Our team is full of excellent character. One thing I've truly appreciated during the 3 years we've become a preeminent club that rarely gets mentioned is how classy we have been. We don't get dragged into shenanigans when we are clearly baited or when other players take shots at us and we just continue to roll on as one big happy family (after cutting Miggy loose). Everybody has class and respect and that goes a long way in building and sustaining a dynasty.

So, the Cubs’ shenanigans are cheeky and fun, while other teams’ shenanigans are cruel and tragic. Which makes them not really shenanigans at all. Evil shenanigans.

Theo & Jed need to show their dominance and trade him to the Marlins or sell him to a Japanese team.

This is it, this is the year that Maddon's personality starts to wear on me.

It started getting to me last year. Welcome to the club. Honestly, it probably started in the 2016 postseason for me.

The moment he brought Chapman in during game 6, I started doubting whether I wanted him here.

He almost made himself infamous. Overall, he's done a pretty good job of managing. His antics are getting a little stale. Theo did a great job this past offseason of getting in new coaches after a disappointing overall year.

It worked out so I forgave him, but for while there it looked like he was dustying the hell out of game 7 and I just couldn't believe it.

In these quotes we have one normal guy making a joke and two nut jobs who actually question whether they want Joe Maddon managing the Cubs.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

The managerial decision making from Maddon overall has been pretty good other than some questionable calls in the 2016 and 2017 postseasons. I don't think there are many managers that are better than Maddon in MLB right now.

His personality and gimmicks are getting to me. I had this idea that he was a progressive free thinker who says funny things from time to time, and that stills holds true I guess but he isn't that progressive. He's no Greg Popovich or Steve Kerr.

That quote he gave about the current political situation was terrible. Maddon said, "It’s dangerous when folks in our country stop respecting the White House and the seat of the president". I don't know if he doesn't want to criticize the president because the Ricketts are close to Trump, or maybe he genuinely believes that. He also likes to quote Colin Powell which seems like a weird choice to me. I think if he honestly told us his true opinions on a lot of controversial topics like gun control or immigration we'd be pretty horsefeathering disappointed.

Maddon has said that immigrants were 'saving' his home town and pissed off that town in the process. More recently he said 'it doesn't make any sense' to own an automatic rifle.

I don't believe or expect Maddon to be a paragon of progressive politics, but the extrapolation that some folks have done to one of his comments is silly.

More to the point, I think Joe Maddon is a great manager. I am also getting tired of his 'always on' method of being a great manager since the media eats this stuff up and reports it at every turn.

So, umm... where do we begin?

First, I'm assuming you're saying the normal guy making a joke is TT right? I don't think he's joking. I think he's being serious.

Second, where do I question whether I want Maddon managing the Cubs? I said his personality is starting to get to me now, and it started in the 2016 postseason. I STILL want him managing the Cubs, but I hate how he defends himself after he makes a stupid and/or questionable move in a game. I like Maddon and want him to continue to be the manager for however long he wants to stay here, but he needs to show a little more humility and admit when he makes a mistake.

His personality doesn't ultimately matter if the Cubs are winning and all the players are content with playing time/usage. That is by far the most important part of his job.
