I know Maddon loves having Russell and Baez up the middle, and for good reason, but Bote has looked so good defensively, I really don't think we're losing much there with Bote starting over Russell. Hopefully he's still an above average hitter by October because that could be a DEEP lineup in the playoffs.

Is that with Bote playing SS? Or is it Baez replacing Russell at SS with Bote at 3rd?

I mean Bote at 3B. By "there" I meant the defense in general doesn't suffer much when Russell sits and it's a Bote, Javy, and Zobrist alignment

I'd agree. Or even Happ at 2nd in place of Zo.

Bote played significantly more 2B than 3B in the minors. why not go Bryant, Baez, Bote at 3B, SS, 2B respectively?

At the Pearl Jam concert last night they showed a clip of David Bote's grand slam and followed it up with a cover of David Bowie's Rebel Rebel.

Can he be a backup or emergency catcher? Probably too late to convert him.

We all knew the league was going to adjust to him and that a slump was coming. I'm still really high on Bote and think he'll adjust back. He is a little too agressive in the batter's box right now.

David Bote is the kind of player the Cardinals would have called up in 2004/2005/2006. Relative unknown who gets called up to fill in for a major part of the lineup with 0 expectations, then proceeds to do nothing but hit timely home runs.

That pitch was up and in, not lower in the zone. Is he adjusting to everyone trying to stay away from the bottom of the zone?

Bote is a beast. His dongs are special.

Has he hit one yet that hasn't been an absolute no-doubter right off the bat?

Bote is currently 5th in the NL for rookie fWAR at 1.6 despite having only 46 games under his belt. Next lowest in the top 5 is Acuna at 80 games (who is at 2.9).

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.
