I'm kinda thinking that the plan once everyone is back would be Schwarber-Happ-Heyward. Almora and Jay cycle in against good matchups.

Yeah, I think I'd rather have Heyward in CF than Happ, but Happ has proven to be reliable and solid-average in his short time in CF. We'll see how it all shakes out once everyone is healthy and Schwarber returns. J. Jay is a great weapon to bring off the bench as a PH. I didn't think much of it when we signed him, but that was a great pickup.

Agreed that the optimal defensive alignment is Heyward in center and not Happ.

Wade Davis is the Cubs default all star. Yeah it's nice that our guys would get rest but kind of crazy that the defending WS champs only have 1 all star and it's not a guy who was on the team when they won the World Series. It will be the Joe Maddon show in Miami

Can't believe lamb made it over Bryant.

Bryant one of the 5 candidates for last man vote. Has the 3rd best fWAR of the candidates but I bet he's voted in

I'm all for only send Wade. And it might be beneficial to just chill at home and re-group. But Bryant not making the All-Star Game will look really stupid by the end of the year.

Agreed. Kris Bryant is one of the best players in the game, NL MVP and one of the most popular players in all of baseball. There is NO way he doesn't get into the All-Star Game, unless H. Harrelson is choosing a Third Baseman because then we all know he'd choose T. horsefeathering Frazier lol.

Yeah, I'm just fine with none of our guys doing anything over the ASB but staying home and getting ready to go on a tear in the 2nd half.

When Schwarber wins the WS with a big fat dong and uses his bat to club to death every player on the other team and half their fans, I expect every one of these talking heads to defend him. -yanrslatr

I'm holding out some glimmer of hope (however faint it might be) that some team thinks he's a centerpiece of a deal at the deadline.

Sorry if posted elsewhere, but the Cubs are the first defending WS Champs ever to not send a returning player to the ASG.

This is actually hilarious to me. Not one player from that team in the All-Star Game. What a nightmare.

Where have all the line drives gone? This feels like the one glaring issue when comparing the batted ball rates between this offense and last year's. This year we are dead last at 18% and last year we were 8th with 21%

To me this is what most explains the 20 point BABIP drop. Hard% is about the same, so is our pull rates and directional hitting, even the flyball% is the same which really surprised me. But the guys have stopped hitting line drives and the results have been disastrous.
