I like getting pissed. And yeah, only got 60 names. The most games played that I didn't remember was Moreland (followed closely by Starlin! #-o ) and the player with the least games played that I did remember was Milton Bradley, (followed closely by Mike Bieleki).

I got 97 names. My lowest was RhonDL White. He was one of the ones I was angry about. There were several “he only played 125 games?” And several “how the heck did Neifi play 250 games for the cubs!?”

Could we hire Len as the hitting coach? He could just shout "hit some dingers, fellahs, OH BABY!" from the booth before each game starts, and I think the guys could take it from there, right?

https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/ ... sse-chavez

From the article on nbcsports.com:

Best ERA, July 21-end of season

(minimum 30 innings) IP ERA
Blake Treinen 32.1 0.56
Jesse Chavez 39.0 1.15
Blake Snell 61.2 1.17
Trevor Bauer 35.0 1.29
Trevor Williams 71.2 1.38
Robert Stock 36.0 1.50

Fewest baserunners per 9 innings, July 32-end of season

(minimum 30 innings) IP BR/9 IP
Blake Treinen 32.1 5.85
Blake Snell 61.2 7.15
Jesse Chavez 39.0 7.15
Jacob deGrom 93.2 7.49
Scott Oberg 30.2 7.63
Josh Hader 33.1 7.83

I didn't want to bring back Brian Duensing after his good year in 2017, but I feel better about Jesse Chavez. We should be able to bring him back on a 1-yr deal. He's durable and seems fine with going multiple innings. His control and fastball command is amazing (at least during his short time w/ the Cubs). He won't be as dominant as last year, but I think he's capable of having another good season.

I was fine bringing back Duensing on a 1 year deal again, but giving him 2 years was unnecessary. Likewise, I'm fine with bring back Chavez on a 1 yr deal and see no reason to give him 2. Maybe 1 and a team option.

During a "Not For Women Only" panel discussion, former Cubs pitcher Mike Bielecki asked several players to invent a baseball catch phrase for Viagra. Theriot's ad campaign: "Viagra -- I always play hard."

NLDS Game 1 thru WS Game 6 are basically a giant blur to me. The only game I distinctly remember is WS Game 7.

My brother and I attended Game 6 NLCS. While driving up we discussed what we wanted to happen if we could pick. We didn’t want drama. Just a nice, easy quick lead and shutdown pitching and a giant party counting down the outs with no stress.

And then that’s what happened. Best atmosphere game I’ve ever been to. And I’ve been to some really good ones.

During the NLCS that year, when frustrating things would happen, my wife would occasionally hand me my 4 month old daughter to hold to sort of calm me down. I noticed that whenever I was holding her, good things would happen. Of course this was coincidental, but just in case, I wasn't going to mess with it. So, prior to NLCS Game 6, I told her I was holding her from the start. I literally didn't put her down the entire game. My left arm was like a cramped claw when I finally put her down after the game (and in to the next day).

I was also way more emotional after NLCS Game 6 than WS Game 7 (maybe because Game 7 emotions turned from oh my god we are going to win it, to please don't blow this game I will never get over it). I almost had to remind myself there was more to play.

Winning the pennant and winning the World Series are so very nearly tied for me in magnitude/emotion. Winning the World Series just barely edges out winning the pennant.
