Hey, this is just them paying tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Collapse of '69.

If so, they did a really poor job of it. Was there a time this season when you thought "This is our year"?

I was barely alive for 1969 but it sounds like it was a lot like 2003 which was much worse than this season.

Nats would have to go 1-7 or 2-6 while the Cubs go 5-1 or 6-0 but hey I'd give this a 9% chance of happening, which is what the Cubs playoff odds are according to Fangraphs.

Nats go 0-8, Cubs have to go 4-2 to win, 3-3 to tie
Nats go 1-7, Cubs have to go 5-1 to win, 4-2 to tie
Nats go 2-6, Cubs have to go 6-0 to win, 5-1 to tie
Nats go 3-5, Cubs have to go 6-0 to tie.

lol....

Update: The Nationals have started out 3-0, the Cubs 0-1. Whoops

During a "Not For Women Only" panel discussion, former Cubs pitcher Mike Bielecki asked several players to invent a baseball catch phrase for Viagra. Theriot's ad campaign: "Viagra -- I always play hard."

There were no less than 3 names given by various people in that thread, so it appears to be up for debate.

finally - something intriguing about the 2019 cubs

If this is true, why would Zobrist come back to the team at the end of the year? Would be humiliating

A) The player involved was no longer on the team when he returned.
2) He needed the money.
#) He's into it.

Not shockingly at all, the baseless speculation in a Reddit thread about who banged Ben Zobrist's wife comes smothered with a heaping helping of not so subtle racism sauce.

"I heard it was this one brown guy that did it! No, I heard it was that OTHER brown guy!!!! No, the OTHER OTHER brown guy!!!!"

honestly I think that all the speculation that she was sleeping around is male sexism trying to pin the "Yoko Ono". Maybe she did have an affair. Maybe he did. Maybe they both did, but I doubt its a Cindy Sandberg situation. If it happened, it was likely a one time deal like most affairs are, and if they are working through it it good for them.

Pretty good breakdown on the Cubs FO failures since the World Series.

https://www.theringer.com/mlb/2019/9/26 ... ris-bryant

From 2017-2019, the Cubs have given out $285.5m in FA contracts (valued over $1m) to 13 players (well 12 as Duensing is counted twice having signed 2 contracts) and have received 7.9 wins so far (4 of those contracts - Darvish, Chatwood, Kimbrel and Descalso don't expire after this year).

Don't know where i belong; but the reason i don't go to Mlb games much any more is the bums make too much $$$ for very little talents. I guess i grew up watching a different game in the 1950's and 1960's when players thought they were lucky to have people pay to watch them and kids idolized these sportsmen. Might as well have 20 relief pitchers and don't let any of them pitch further then once through the line up.. Give them the rest of the year off and bring in the ground crew to finish up or hope for rain for the next week.. :clapping:
