horsefeathers that guy. He was always one of my favorite obscure Cubs, mostly due to the fact that he managed to outpitch Roy Halladay at a game I went to at Wrigley in 2005. But screw him.

Wait, I am getting Mitre confused with Rueben Quevedo

Ron Santo once got Ruben Quevedo confused with Ruben Quevedo.

He was on the '03 Cubs for one month. He was your favorite Cub in '03 because of what he did in 1996?

If Starlin Castro came back to the Cubs for 1 month in 2020 you think it’d be weird for him to be a fan favorite?

That’s a whole different conversation. There are a lot of average to bad players who are people’s favorite player.

He’s definitely looked quieter and less stabby/reachy back there early on.

I remember when he was having his control issues and the Cubs AA team was in West Tenn. my wife and went to see him pitch in Jackson. He was awful. He threw one so high the catcher didn’t even make an attempt. He could not throw a strike.

Is Kimbrel’s stint as Cubs’ closer effectively over? How can the team put him back out there in a high leverage situation?

I mean, someone has to pitch the 9th. Give him a few chances at the 6th/7th inning, let him work on disguising the curve ball a little more. Walks are up across baseball, people are still finding their footing.

No kidding. Last night was too much for me. I went to bed expecting the worst and hoping for the best. I was mildly surprised they ended up winning.

Umm, I think these plays should be reviewable? It could be very important in a playoff series.

I think the reason it’s not reviewable is that too many things happen dependent on the original call after. Imagine this identical play happens in the bottom of the 9th of a tie playoff game. You review it and see it hit the ground, but what’s the ultimate call? If the call on the field was no catch Bryant is going to ensure he gets the lead runner, can we assume he would’ve been out or that there would be a double play?

I know and that's why I have it as a question instead of a statement...

It's difficult to breakdown and determine how to properly rule it, but maybe it needs to be ruled like interference or something like that? If every team is told all catches/trap plays are reviewable now then maybe players will be told to react based on what they think happened. It's complicated no doubt. I'm not exactly sure how to determine this exact play or what should happen, but I feel like all catches should be reviewable.
