Mainly due to the Seager injury, Cubs now projected to have the best record in the NL by 6 games (95 wins), only behind Houston (100), Boston (98.5), and NYY (97). Dodger's projection went down 4 wins.

The AL is going to be so boring this year...4 teams with playoff odds of over 95% already. Hopefully the NL Central ends up just as boring, but the East and the West could be pretty interesting.

VBs are going to wreck that stat soon enough.

Heh, there are 5 teams in the NL with losing records. The 3 teams everyone knew would be terrible, and the other 2 presumed division winners.

Jesse “skip bayless” Rogers, I can’t believe I’m tuning in to see what this doofus has to say.

Rogers has one purpose in his job, to surface quotes and the occasional scoop/rumor. I have less than zero interest in any opinions or analysis he can conjure up.

disagree. one time he posted a bunch of pictures on twitter of how he was riding a trolley in san francisco and it broke down or something. i am extremely interested in a series of short films in which jesse is like the cooler of cubs road city tourist traps and gets stuck inside the statue of liberty or has the space needle fall on him or whatever.

definitely no baseball opinions though.

Okay, I will compromise on the point that Jesse Rogers can be the Cubs’ real life version of Flat Stanley.

Darvish’s slider is a completely different pitch so far this year

Is this gonna be one of those things we "fixed" after we signed a guy?

Speaking of horrible takes, can we discuss the reaction to Kaplan's Sammy interview? He came across as contrite and pretty open to coming back to Chicago.

Then, there was this:

Sammy... was mean to reporters? What?

Reporter crows about how he covered Sosa in the early 2000's. Reporter, in the very same article, gripes about Sosa's PED use like it was the most obvious thing in the world. Reporter's lack of self-awareness is....breathtaking.

Sending this blind. But it's Brisbee on Wood's 20K game, so I'm sure it's fantastic.

Also, Bill Spiers apparently talks like Gomer Pyle. Read these quotes in Jim Nabors’ voice:

Spiers: I had my role as a utility player and didn’t start that day and was watching the whole thing unfold and going, “Jeez-iree.”

Spiers: In my mind I said, “Here comes a fastball.” And I see a fastball in. Then I remember thinking midswing, “Oh, great day! This is a curveball!”

Wood made six starts that July and averaged 118 pitches during that stretch.

My library has an extensive DVD collection. Somehow, it also included a collection of "The greatest games in Cub history." So checked out the 20K game, and also the Ryne Sandberg game, but the later was called by Bob Costas. Boo.

No big deal, just a pitcher making Craig Biggio look like he took a report card that read “30 career hits” and added two zeros to fool his parents.

If I had to choose between a second WS win and Grant Brisbee writing about the Cubs full-time, I'm pretty sure I'd prefer the second one.

Just came across the fact that Bryan Lahair was our All-Star in 2012. My brain had expunged any memory of that. God, those were dark days.

YAY!!! The Cubs brought back Lane Adams, who elected FA after being taken off the Braves 40-man roster.

Agreed. If anything since the WS, fandom has been really hard. Meanwhile grant would quickly make it better
