During a "Not For Women Only" panel discussion, former Cubs pitcher Mike Bielecki asked several players to invent a baseball catch phrase for Viagra. Theriot's ad campaign: "Viagra -- I always play hard."

well that sent me down a rabbit hole, the message board in question seems to have sub-forums to discuss all the local sports talk radio shows, sounds like a real fun place

Yeah, I've come across it before...a number of years ago when I was listening the Score a whole lot more. It's a cess pool.

@jarrieta34

It's really something when people on a message board that calls my friend a seal every day positions themselves as victims.

I'm speechless.

Rizzo, Heyward and Javy gold glove finalists.

Javy winning over Wong is the only thing I care about.

https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/th ... 8-yankees/

538 still has the Cubs as the 19th best World Series champion ever and 2nd best in the last 20 years, with this years Red Sox one spot above. It seems like by their rankings ELO gets a much bigger emphasis than they should as the Cubs are significantly better than this year's Sox in pythagorean record and WAR.

538's obsession with ELO is amazing to me. For baseball it could make sense, if it wasn't so random and dependant on pitching match ups. That they use it for football almost exclusively with 16 game seasons where the results of rosters that no longer exist greatly effect future ELO ratings...gross. Pythag and WAR are a much better indicator of talent levels.

VB’s hired Andy Haynes to be their hitting coach. So we need to find a new assistant hitting coach (hire someone close to Bryce imo). Hyde withdrew or isn’t in consideration from any HC Jobs so the rest of the staff appears to be staying in tact.

I was flipping through Soccernomics by Simon Kuper and Stefan Szymanski and found a really interesting part. Apparently in the early 2000’s one club (AC Milan) funded an in-house medical outfit that found, by studying a player’s jump it “could predict with 70% accuracy whether he would get injured soon.” They tested many other more and less obvious things, eventually on a daily basis. This is easily over a decade ago as the book mentions their 2007 championship squad being full of 30+ starters thanks to this research.

Think the Cubs have their own in-house medical outfit doing similar research? I do!

I genuinely can't tell if you're (rightly) slamming the Cubs or praising them.
