2019 Spring Training Thread

Postby David » Mon Feb 11, 2019 4:13 pm

While this offseason has been insanely boring and disappointing up until now, at best, "Pitchers and catchers report," is still one of my favorite phrases in existence and they are doing that this week.

Some guys are already there getting to work...

Also, Mark Gonzales appears to have upgraded his camera a little

Yu is going to shove it up the racists' and/or meatballs' asses this year.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

So is Gonzales' phone camera bad, or is he just secretly banned from the facility and is zooming in on people from across the parking lot

It's horsefeathering [expletive] that this POS hasn't been (can't be?) barred from everything pro baseball related while he's suspended. Here's hoping a bad hop catches him right in the throat.

I like to think they didn't provide Chatwood with any gear as he doesn't have a Cubs shirt/sweatshirt on and it's just what he wore to the park and he had to rummage through LaStella's old locker to find a Cubs hat and shorts.

Listening to this presser, I don't have a problem with them genuinely attempting to better Russell and maybe save someone else from further abuse, I just don't want to have to root for him on my baseball team. It's a weird feeling I can't exactly reconcile or feel great about on either side.

I believe in Theo's sincerity and also think he's taking the easy way out. You can revamp the org's approach to preventing DV and dealing with those situations, but that's the relatively easy part. It's retreating into improving process while the bigger statement is to be made by actually acknowledging fans who are most hurt and conflicted by Russell's presence on the roster.
