Jesus Christ; it's kind of amazing how terrible he was in April last season. What in the world.

Just a hunch but I don’t think he’ll maintain a .159 BABIP all year.

Saw that earlier when I looked up Rizzo’s and it was too depressing to post.

I'm confused...it's 55 points lower than his career average? While hitting essentially the same amount of hard hit balls? I mean...if you want to buy that he's a 10 HR/year guy now, then sure, let's get concerned. But I'm pretty far from there.

Me too.

I'm thinking 3 HR.

So it has now been a full month since Rizzo last hit a HR and going all the back to June 1st his SLG is .438. I know the OBP is still there, but I'm starting to get a bit worried here.

I'm not...Riz has been a notoriously streaky hitter in his career.

In April of last year he hit 1 HR in 18 games with a sub-.500 OPS and then immediately hit 5 in his next 9 games. Then later in June/July he had a 25 game homerless stretch, and also followed that up with a 5 HR in 9 game stretch. He then had a 25 game homerless stretch to end the season (though hit one in the tiebreaker game).

In 2017 he had a 13 game stretch, a 1 HR in 22 game stretch, and then hit 1 HR in his final 27 games.

2016, a 1 HR in 23 games stretch, 1 HR in 35 game stretch, and finished the year with a 14 game homerless stretch (that led into a postseason slump that he broke out of mid-NLCS and finished the championship run strong).

Not to say that this will make you feel warm and fuzzy about Rizzo, but that's just who he is. You always wonder in the middle of those HR hot streaks he has why he's never hit more than 32 in a season...well that's why. At some point in the very near future, he will break out of it and hit like 5 HRs in 9 games and all will be good.

Power is streaky. UMFan did a great job of showing it with Rizzo, but it's true for everyone. If a guy hits 26 homeruns in a year, he's not hitting 1 per week. He's gonna have a few different weeks with 3 to 5 and a few months with only 1 or 2.

he has the second best numbers of his career and he is notoriously streaky with the power. i worry about everything but this one is odd.

Yeah, during is drought he's got a .795 OPS, and that's before today's 2-3 with a BB. We've seen him slump with a sub .500 OPS (last year) so this is nothing.

Clearly Mojo needs to start tracking how many days it’s been since Rizzo homered like he does for KB.

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/chicago-cubs-anthony-rizzo-grand-slam-moonshot-cancer-fundraiser-044532983.html

Matteo Lambert, a 9-year-old from Vienna, Virginia, asked Chicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo for a “moonshot” ahead of their game against the San Diego Padres on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field, a big ask for any player in the league.

Rizzo, though, delivered.

While that feat was impressive on its own, Lambert’s reasoning for the “moonshot” was even more so.

Lambert helped organize a group who is running a 5K race in Grant Park in Chicago this weekend to help raise money for children who have cancer. He stopped by the dugout before the game to deliver a letter to “Mr. Rizzo” with the goal to “help kids be kids!”

“He wrote me a note before the game saying, ‘Let's help kids be kids,’” Rizzo said, via 670 The Score. “This is a nine-year-old helping raise money running 5Ks, and he is completely healthy. It's amazing to see little kids give back and to see what a big heart he has.”

The Anthony Rizzo Games Without a Dong-o-Meter: 9 GAMES

That doesn't sound too bad, until you realize that he's hit 1 in his last 16 games, and ONLY 2 IN HIS LAST 43 GAMES.

Has he been possessed by the drunken astral projection of Mark Grace?
