Who's Your Top Favorite Cubs from Your Lifetime?
With everything shut down and not much else to talk about, I ended up back here. It's been awhile.
So, a light topic- who are your favorite Cubs from your life time. If you want to list five- fine. Ten- go ahead. Any criteria you wanna use- knock yourself out. This doesn't say best Cubs- though that can be your criteria, just favorite.
Here's mine:
1. Ryne Sandberg. Growing up he was my favorite, for a long time. I remember in my late teens when I at one time owned every card of his ever printed.
2. Sammy Sosa. I know he doesn't always get the love from the fan base, but in his best years, he was a joy for me to watch.
3. Greg Maddux- I liked him before he left, and honestly rooted for him during his Braves years. I was happy when he rejoined the team in his twilight years.
4. Kris Bryant- He's my favorite of the current group. I will admit, as much as I loved watching the Cubs win it all, there's fewer of this group in my favorites because I have less time to watch games as in the past.
5. Ryan Theriot- My LSU connection made me really like Theriot when he was a Cub.
6. Andre Dawson- Loved the Hawk and always will.
7. Mark Grace- Grace was another player that I saw play a lot and always liked.
8. Rick Sutcliffe
9. Kerry Wood
10. Aramis Ramirez

Bill Buckner - my favorite player when I was a kid
Javy - absolutely the most fun Cub player ever
After that it gets really hard.

Don't know that I can rank them, but I can pick them based on the era/chronological order
1) Andre Dawson
2) Sammy Sosa
3) Aramis Ramirez
4) Anthony Rizzo/Javy Baez (hard to pick)

Sandberg was when I was a kid, but that faded fast when he quit then came back and stunk and then turned into the quintessential "back in my day" guy.
Sammy, Baez and Bryant are at the top now.
Ramirez is an honorable mention for his trajectory, since I did not like him at first then grew to love him. Kerry Wood is also in the discussion.

Yes, nothing bad at my house. However, a girl who plays softball with my daughter lost their entire home last weekend. Tornado dropped a tree on it. They were all able to get out ok, but it was a total loss. But, yeah staying safe as I can during these crazy times. Thanks for asking!

No particular order from someone who's only been a fan during the 21st century:
Javy
Rizzo
Lester
Hendricks
Aramis
Sosa
Bryant
Soriano
Fowler
Zambrano
Wood
Prior
Castellanos and Edmonds get into a Midseason Acquisitions wing.

I very, very nearly put Jim Bullinger on my list as a joke, no kidding. I had a lot of baseball cards of him, for whatever reason.

Re: Who's Your Top Favorite Cubs from Your Lifetime?
Maddux is number 1 by a mile. From the Hendry era obviously Lee and Ramirez are tops. Prior and Wood too.
Rich Harden weirdly stands out as well, his second half of 2008 was just the coolest.
From this era probably Willson, Javy, Dex, and Hendricks. Yu's probably my favorite right at this moment, but he needs to be produce for longer for him to be a guy I really look back on and think about.

I loved the obscure guys when I was a kid...
Tarzan Joe Wallis (hence the name I use)
Jerry White
Miguel Dilone (hated Preston Gomez for not using him)
Tim Hosley
George Mitterwald
Pete LaCock
Rodney Scott
Of the star players...
Andre Dawson (my all time favorite)
Dave Kingman
Jose Cardenal
Rick Monday
Bill Buckner
and a bunch of others (including the entire 2016 team)

Yikes. Not only do we have the same name but we have the exact same answer.

Re: Who's Your Top Favorite Cubs from Your Lifetime?
Aramis Ramirez - that he was bagged-on by horsefeathers like Kaplan made me love him even more
Javy - simply the most exciting Cubs player I have ever watched; I have loved him since his "I can do whatever the horsefeathers I want" to the Angels bench during (I think) the spring of his first pro year.

As a kid, Dawson and Sandberg. I also really liked Vance Law. He was only a cub a couple of years, and was only any good for one of them, but he wore dorky aviator glasses like I did.
