Tebow hitting .265 and 18 HR in the majors wouldn't be "in the middle;" it would be an astonishing level of success in the sport that he will never, never, never accomplish.

squarely in the middle of what?

that'd be an amazing accomplishment by him.

Yah what? That'd be a dream outcome for him.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

I'm confused by this stance.

Is it because:
1) You don't want the Mets to have an additional asset.
- meh, I'm not really threatened by the Mets, but I can see not wanting good things for other teams.

2) Not wanting athlete's of other sports thinking they can just "pick-up" baseball.
- as long as you felt the same way about Jordan, I'm ok with this.
or is this
3) or simple dislike of Tim Tebow?
- I don't understand those who feel this way. Some people over-rated him/He got too much attention for his talent level, but I didn't see him do anything worthy of the hate some people have for him.

I don't have any particular love for Tebow, but I don't wish him any ill will.

It's a combination of 2 and 3, but it's different than Jordan. Jordan had success in basketball. His leaving to play baseball was purely a choice...a dumb one, but a choice nonetheless.

Tebow is trying baseball because "horsefeathers, turns out I suck at football". That, combined with my dislike of him and the hype around him makes me actively root against him.

not wanting him to make the majors isn't exactly hoping he dies of cancer tomorrow. jesus, the guy went to college for free and played in the nfl. he doesn't need anyone's sympathy.

this entire baseball thing for tebow is just a way for him to sign a contract with under armor or adidas or whoever it is. it's a total horsefeathering sham.

Never assume. 18 HRs over the course of the season would be a good season for Tebow but not for most anybody else (or am I so spoiled by our own players that I don't realize that 18 HRs represents good production from a corner OF these days?)

I enjoy how much people feel the need to either hate or defend Tebow. Why does anyone care enough to argue about this guy?

Ben Zobrist had 18 HRs and batted .272 last year.

Fine 14 HRs. Not really the point but adjusted to better reflect mediocre performance by a corner OF that will likely strike out 200 times.

I dont care one way or the other about Tebow, but yea, it feels as perhaps you're still calibrated to early aughts offensive numbers?

But overall, it would be a huge accomplishment for Tebow to even make the MLB team and stick, even if he sucked.

I don't really have anything against Tim Tebow the person, he seems like a good enough dude. But I don't want to hear anything about him and baseball. He hit .194/.296/.242 in the Arizona Fall League, he wasn't even committing full time to it with football commentary commitments, and he turns 30 this year. He is less than nothing in the eyes of baseball until he actually does something, several extended somethings actually.

Tebow is the living version of the DickButt drawing. It's exceedingly fun to watch him repeatedly fail at everything.

I guess I don't watch as much sportscenter as I used to, and had only heard of his attempt at baseballing here at NSB. I just kind of shrugged it off as a non-thing. I just don't get the hate, but if it is filling up people's news feed it would get old.

Growing up in South Bend I grew to dislike Notre Dame because, when looking for Cubs news, all I could get in the paper or local news was that Lou Holtz's mother-in-law had a hangnail - front page. I could see it getting old.
