2013 Cubs Convention Thread

Postby David » Fri Jan 18, 2013 1:35 pm

It's that time again. Anyone going?

I usually look forward to some posters posting recaps of the different talks and such. Also really looking forward to the renovation plans being unveiled.

This is why I don't go to the Cubs Convention every year. You are surrounded by a majority people who do things like this and they also think we should still have Theriot/Fontenot as our SS/2B combo with Barney at 3B and Campana and Fuld manning the OF.

I'm watching right now on tape delay, Starlin got a comparable ovation to those guys.

... And I think Rizzo actually got the biggest.

The convention is fantastic. Don't pay attention to the meatballs, and don't waste the day away in line for autographs that you'll never look at.

I'm not sure who I'm ranting to.

Bizarre comment about Wood and Prior being opposites. Meatbally Prior dig or am I missing something?
During a "Not For Women Only" panel discussion, former Cubs pitcher Mike Bielecki asked several players to invent a baseball catch phrase for Viagra. Theriot's ad campaign: "Viagra -- I always play hard."

This has nothing to do with that ^...before anyone reads this right after that and gets confused.

McLeod said that Prior was at Wrigley for the first time in 6 years. Walked out, stood on the mound and just looked around. Said, "This is so weird." :(

That's so sad.

From Bruce Miles' twitter:

Fan: "One guy who I thought was a really good leadoff hitter was Tony Campana." #Cubs

Sveum: Campana "has a really hard time getting on base at the big league level," in response to fan. #Cubs

Next fan up says he really enjoys watching Tony Campana. We are at the #Cubs convention.

No Villanueva move announcement today, per Muskat. I tweeted Bruce there's not enough police inside facility to handle riot for Campana DFA announcement, he responded "you got it".
