Even though that was an out, Anthony Rizzo just took an 0-2 offspeed pitch on the outside corner and hit it about 350 feet. Incredible.

Thanks. I liked him; he seemed pretty knowledgable despite not telling me anything I didn't already know

Great outing for Dempster so far, I figure he gets another inning since he's at 65 pitches right now.

Dempster goes into the break with a 1.99 ERA.

The question now is who he is pitching for after the break. I lack any inside information, but I gotta believe there were plenty of scouts in the stands today and I'm not sure what else they would need to see. If I'm in a pennant race, the 3-4 extra starts I can get out of Dempster by trading for him now rather than waiting for the 31st are extremely important.

Any way we can end this with a 1-2-3 inning from Marmol?

Barney just struck out on a pitch that hit him in the thigh.

And note the father holding his son back so that ball could be caught.

I knew Shawn Camp was pitching well this year, but I didn't realize it was 2.86 ERA good.

CUBS WIN! That's nine wins out of 13 heading into the break.

Yeah, they're not as historically awful as some were saying.

Considering that the cubs were 10-10 during a span in which Dempster was on the DL and Garza pitched to a 5.24 ERA, there is a chance they might not be completely awful if/when those two are gone.

More importantly, Dempster has a sub 2.00. Must...move...soon.

Not a half bad way to go into the break. Second half should be fun, with the inevitable trades, full time Rizzo, maybe some scattered call ups too with the Jacksons and/or Vitt?
