The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

Unless Judge falls in a hole (or hangs out with some Cardinal players) he'll blow by that in the next season or two

Additional rule: you have to have one or the other. The only exception is you have an amazing board name. davell, I'm looking at you; put up a [expletive] avatar or something if your name only sounds like somebody tried say Dave as they lapsed into a coma.

Grant is easily the best person on baseball twitter and this is great even for him.

Yeah, we need to trade for him somehow.

I don’t know what Brisbee looks or sounds like. For some reason I read all his tweets in the voice and delivery of Ari Shaffir.

Morosi amongst others have tweeted today that MLB and the union will be meeting this week to go over pace of play things and changes are almost guaranteed to be coming. In general I’m against most of the proposed rough ideas (mound visit limits as an example) because I don’t think cutting a game 5-10 minutes matters but I’ll wait to cast judgement to see what they actually do.

dave cameron is leaving fangraphs to go work for the padres. i’ve always thought he was pretty terrible. i guess you just automatically qualify for these jobs if you work for fangraphs or bp long enough.

Cameron has his blind spots like all of us, but most of the reason folks dislike him is that he could get obnoxious in how he communicated some ideas. I think he's a reasonably bright guy, if not one that has an overly specialized skill set for a MLB front office. That said, getting hired by AJ Preller is not exactly a huge feather in one's cap.

He’s way out ahead. Any pitcher with a decent change up will own him. Hard pass.

Jeff Passan wrote a mostly good article about why the offseason has been so slow this season (yes, the free agency system and tanking small market teams has lowered demand greatly...no, it isn't collusion) which you can read here: https://www.yahoo.com/sports/heres-baseballs-economic-system-might-broken-224638354.html

But this part made me grin:
Recently, one of the best free agents available this offseason met with a friend, and he admitted something shocking: He was preparing to sit out until the middle of the season. The market for his services this winter was so thin, the offers so incompatible with his production, that he worried he was going to need an external force to compel teams to pay him what his numbers say he’s worth. Maybe it would take a playoff race.

I wonder who could have said that?!
