Thames to the DL with a torn ligament in his thumb. Sounds like he’s out anywhere from 6 weeks to 2+ months.

I was at PNC Park for this afternoon’s game. Glad I was treated to the full Pirates Experience with red ass Hurdle getting tossed.

PNC is a gorgeous stadium btw.

Fangraphs projections has it at Cubs 91 (tied for most with Dodgers in NL), Cardinals 88, VB’s 82 as of right now and who cares about Reds/Pirates, fwiw. We are at 88% for playoffs (62% for division) Cardinals at 72% (31%), Brewers 25% (5%).

Current Pythagorean Wins are VBs 14-11, 15-8, Cubs 13-8

I know it's early, but three of the Cardinal starters are batting under .185:

Wong - .182
Dex - .170
Carpenter - .163

That's a whole lotta SUCK in the lineup on a regular basis. Not to mention attrocious defense, too!

On the other hand, a few people in this thread were going on about Miles Mikolas' crappy spring. He's got a 3.36 ERA now through 33 innings with only 2 walks.

Yeah I can see the cardinals being annoying this year. They have guys struggling but they still pull Jose Martinez and Paul dejonges out of their ass regularly.

I think the cubs should be much better but could see them winning a wild card.

"Everybody is going to look at it as a sweep but every game was close," Shaw said. "Pretty much, every game we've played against them has been close. I envision that happening throughout the summer, too.

"I wouldn't say this was a dominant sweep. We just didn't hit enough; we didn't score any runs. I don't think that will be an issue going forward."

Pretty sure I was arguing with Shaw on Twitter then. The gist of their argument was the Brewers would've won if they hit better and weren't so home run dependent. Brewers fans are really really really dumb.

Sounds like Gerrit Cole a few years back and his “the Cubs aren’t that good” talk. That turned out well for the Pirates...... Jake kicked their dick in, in the WC Game and we scared them in to a rebuild.

I think cole's "I don't think the cubs are the best team" comment came in early 2016, which is even worse.

The cubs turning into a juggernaut has really broken a lot of people's brains. I love it.

And there was Josh Harrison singing "No Cubs no" after one of the Pirates 4 wins that year.

The Pirates went 4-14 in 2016 against the Cubs. The Brewers can only hope they can get their winning percentage up to .222 against the Cubs this year.

Interesting how the schedules have played out so far. The Cardinals, Brewers and Pirates have combined to go 29-5 against teams under .500 and 19-31 against teams over .500. For comparison's sake, the Cubs are 2-3 against teams under .500 and 13-7 against teams over

The Cubs poor record against sub 500 teams will change once the Brewers dip below the .500 mark.

The Brewers May schedule is pretty tough. 3 vs Pirates, 6 vs D'backs, 4 @ Coors, 2 vs Indians (right now Kluber and Carrasco are the scheduled pitchers), 4 vs Mets and 3 vs Cardinals. They only have 5 games vs teams under .500. The Cardinals looks pretty average about half/half vs good and bad teams and I'm still not worried about the Pirates so don't care who they play.
