The VB’s sent Sogard down to AAA for just as horsefeathers, switch hitting version of Sogard, in Nick Franklin. Your move Theo!

I feel like we should be back in this title until further notice.

Probably but I'm too lazy to commit to changing it back and forth as a bit.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

They also specialize in 7th and 8th infielders.

Felipe "Don't Call Me Rivero" Vazquez and the Bucs just sh!t the bed in the top of the ninth to the Padres. After a couple of singles to lead off the ninth, the ever-reliable Jordy Mercer throws wildly and the Padres tie it. Then a few more hits and suddenly the Bus are down 8-5 in the 9th. Two an and still nobody out.

VB’s sent Arcia to AAA. Sogard and something called a Saladino are now their shortstops

Hmm, strange. I was told that Arcia is better than Addison Russell.

So the VB's bullpen just took a massive steamer on Upside Down House Ballpark. Good Guys up 8-3 in the 8th.

Yeah, but they didn’t use Hader, Jeffries or Knebel so they’re set to win by 1 tomorrow even though their starter will only go 5.

Chase Anderson had another bad start tonight.

We’re in range. Starter went 5 2/3, Hader just got the last out of the 6th and the Brewers are up 1-0.

Fretting about the Brewers score is really missing the point of this thread. If the Cubs don't finish five games ahead of them, I don't even want the division title.

Since its Cubs-Brewers the next 3 days, I thought I would check up on things over at brewerfan.net

Keith Stone wrote:I have a hard time seeing a better front office than the Brewers, at least for longevity. The Cubs FO made a dreadful big $ signing, and look like they potentially made 2 more bad ones this past offseason...too early to tell though. Also their all-in approach to each season is going to lead to a massive rebuild very soon. I don't see Stearns sacrificing the future in such a manner.

The Cards front office was the best up until the last handful of years. Their mentality really seemed to switch away from internal development(which led to multiple WS rings) and toward free agency. I think we've all learned that spending big in free agency is generally a losing strategy.

The Pirates make some unorthodox decisions, but it's definitely tough to argue with the results...at least to this point in the season. It almost feels like they are a carbon copy of Oakland.

I'd rate the front offices Brewers, Pirates, Cardinals, Cubs, Reds.
Major league talent would be Cubs, Brewers, Cardinals, Pirates, Reds.
Minor leagues I'm less familiar, but I can say with certainty that the Cubs are in last...and it isn't even remotely close. I'm relatively certain the Cubs current top prospect would not crack a single top 5 for any team in the division. It will be interesting to see how they plug holes this season, while talented they definitely could use some help at the deadline or other teams(like us) could pass them with big acquisitions.

I love how delusional they are as a fan base. It's actually kind of incredible.

Nothing says 'built for the long haul' quite like having 7 players on your roster playing at a 2 win pace, with 2 of them being relievers and 2 others being Junior Guerra and Jhoulys Chacin.
