They couldn’t fill the stadium with their own fans last year in that last 4 game series of the year when they were still in it. Sports talk guys in Wisconsin were begging fans to show up and wanted season tickets revoked from any season ticket holder who sold or gave their tickets to Cubs fans. I doubt many, if any, of their fans will be rushing to buy tickets in this deal. Especially at the premium up charge the Brewers put on Cubs games, you can get to 3+ games against pretty much any non-Cubs team in Milwaukee for the jacked up prices they charge for one game when the Cubs are in town. I’ve gone to games there against non-Cubs teams and sat in the lower level for $20, those are $100-200+ seats when the Cubs are in Milwaukee.

It's an air tight marketing strategy, as there are zero Cubs fans who are also Wisconsin residents. Also, Wisconsin residents never ever sell their tickets on the secondary market.

I mean, there's a lot more of them in Illinois. This is kind of a dumb point that I've been seeing made on Twitter, too.

It's not going to work to any degree that really matters (their park will still appear flooded with opposing fans to a comical degree), regardless, because this is only for a presale and because there's still a secondary market, but this ploy will probably result in some amount of Brewer fans going that otherwise wouldn't have, both in the attention it's bringing and the fact that they're preemptively selling to WI only residents. The fact that there are still Cubs fans in WI doesn't change the fact that they've eliminated most of them from being eligible to pre-buy.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

I honestly think there’s probably just as many Cubs fans as Brewer fans in Wisconsin, or at least ones in the pool that actually go and buy tickets for games (the people who are fans in the populated areas 2-5 hours away, GB and north/Fox Valley/LaCrosse probably get to few games a year). Just in my city alone my friend/family group is split if not leaning Cubs fans and around town I will see just as much Cubs gear as Brewer gear. Also there are a ton of Cubs fans south and southwest of Milwaukee.

There are still a ton more in Illinois. And it's not just people in Lake County and northern Cook making the drive up there.

Oh I’m not arguing that. I just think if you make an assumption most people going to Brewer games aren’t driving more than 1.5 hours (and likely closer), which is reasonable, and draw that 1.5 hour radius around Milwaukee you would find about as many Cubs fans as there are Brewer fans in that area.

The only thing this accomplishes to any significant degree is bringing attention to how 2nd rate the Brewers are.

But to be fair, to be SOTMRFIB, you can't really prioritize quantity.

(if you're somehow oblivious to pop music entirely, those are ed sheeran lyrics)

(ed sheeran has a concert scheduled at miller park that would coincide with the world series)

The Brewers are taking a page out of the Nashville Predator playbook. What's next? You can't wear your Cubs jerseys and hats to Miller Park? Second rate city, second rate fan base. All of the series in Milwaukee are weeknights except for the first series, I'm sure brewers PR will deem this campaign a success when the park is only 50/50 Cubs fans

They are the C-list movie star trying to be relevant again by picking a public fight with the A-lister. It's kind of annoying that we are acknowledging them at all, although it was pretty entertaining.

Not saying it will happen, but the Cubs coming back from a 3-1 deficit to win the World Series does seem like the appropriate way to cap off this season and make the 30-for-30 even better.

I bought tickets to the June 13th and September 4th and 5th games today at Miller park, so I guess thanks Brewers for letting me get my tickets at market rate instead of double to triple on stubhub. My Cubs fans family members and friends appreciate it.

I just realized former Brewer wunderkid Rickie Weeks is still playing MLB baseball. He's 35 years old now. He played 37 games for the Rays last season, racked up 112 PA, and struck out a whopping 49 times -- for a K% of 43.8%.

I really hope the Brewers don't bring him back. That could put them over the top.

That bill hAll Star guy is weird mix of good and strange. In a post in which he claims an opt-out after two years is good for the Cubs, he then goes on to drop this legit gem:

Sorry, everyone can get back to dancing in the streets about how the Cubs are going to be overpaying a guy 4 years from now by $7 million/year after 3 more division titles.

it's not good, but it doesn't really matter...even without any opt out, this is kind of a steal. so yeah, the only new outcome brought on by including the opt out is one in which he's very good for 2 years and opts out...in which case we get him for $42M for 2 years (or however it's actually structured) which is an outcome i'm ok with in itself given where he is age-wise (if he were younger, i'd be more concerned about losing the additional surplus value control).

Also, an opt out given to a 31 year old SP for 2+ years into a top of the market contract might as well not exist. I don't care if the Luxury tax magically goes up by 50 million tomorrow and he wins the Cy Young the next 2 years, Darvish isn't opting out.
