Makes sense to hire the old man whose VCR is still flashing 12:00 to manage the team that uses technology to cheat. He'd have no idea it was happening

That's terrible math. And he's wrong. The benefit was more than 50% greater than the misses.

The more that comes out about the scandal, the more I realize how lightly the Astros got off

Everything started with Codebreaker, and the use of it to steal signs continued into 2018—not just at home, but also on the road

So much for the “astros hit better on the road” defense.

AJ Hinch did an interview and showed some contrition and tried to be honest about what happened. He probably will get a manager job again down the road.

Jeff Luhnow seems like a man with no conscience and I doubt he'll ever fully admit to what happened in Houston or accept blame. I don't think he gets a job in MLB again (in any capacity).

Don't describe to The Athletic, can anyone tell me if this is as damning for Beltran as Twitter is making it out to be?

Extremely, six anonymous '17 Astros talked for this one and it made it sound like several players were a little leery of this scheme and Beltran basically ignored them and eventually everyone else followed like sheep because he's a 'respected veteran' or whatever.

I’m judging this based solely on your summary, but it sounds like players trying to cover their own asses by throwing Beltran under the bus.

Yeah, I'm a wee bit skeptical of the narrative of 'oh yeah the guy who doesn't work here anymore was totally the ringleader, we didn't even wanna do it but he's the veteran so what could we do'

I mean if it came out that the Cubs cheated somehow in '16 I'd be ok with them saying it was all Lackey's idea
