What sucks is when the guys who do flame out under these deals get to become the foundation for a rookie deal cap. Eventually someone will be the MLB’s JaMarcus Russell

He has 3 ARB years after this year. Happ, Amaya and Marquez I’d guess. I probably do that too.

Remember when the Mariners had Griffey, ARod, and Edgar on the same team and won like 75 games?

Chris Sale has thrown 49 fastballs this year, he hasn’t gotten a swing and a miss on one of them. He also set a career low for average fastball velo for a game in his last start.

And his 5/145 extension doesn't start until the 2020 season.

This Chris Davis stuff is interesting. He clearly is not fit to play Major League Baseball anymore, and yet is healthy and is due like a bazillion dollars still. The Orioles cannot trade him because no one wants an empty roster spot and a bazillion dollars. The Orioles should under no circumstance play him, in fact they probably shouldn’t waste the roster spot on him.

Sunk cost my friends, sunk cost. Just work something out with him so he never plays again and keep paying him.

MLBTR:

Former All-Star outfielder Carlos Beltran has excelled in his new role with the Yankees, writes James Wagner of The New York Times. Following his exceptional playing career, Beltran has brought his passion to an advisory role in Brian Cashman’s front office, where he develops scouting reports and offers counsel to younger players. Beltran, who had been considered for the Yankees’ vacant manager position prior to the 2018 season, would seem to have a chance to manage a Major League ballclub or serve as a primary decision-maker in a front office, if that’s what he wants.

New want: Beltran as the next manager

Really dumb decision to override the deal MLB had with the Cuban government. MLB teams are pissed. The players are pissed and their agents too. Pretty much everyone is pissed (including Republicans) over this.

I know it is silly and there are so many bigger things to worry about, but the more I hear about players going to the "IL", the more I hate it. What was wrong with calling it the Disabled List?

You post like a poster who obviously hates and/or holds significant disdain for disabled people

They're injured, not Disabled. As someone who has a disability (deaf), I always cringed when they say it or it was showed onscreen. It didn't bother me that they HAD to change the wording, but I know a lot of other disabled people that wanted them to.

One of the most shameless (and pointless) of the, "oh, Obama did this? Well, then I must do the opposite"-moves.
