MLBTR wrote:Although nearly all of Kingery’s minor league action came at second, manager Gabe Kapler suggested earlier this spring that he could fill a super-utility role in the majors (via Gelb; subscription required).

“He can play in the big leagues at many different positions,” Kapler said. “He can play second base, he can play shortstop, he can play centerfield. There’s no doubt in my mind that he can handle third base. He can handle both corners. In theory, that’s an exciting role for Scott.”

This really needs to become a regular thing across the sport.

It should be a feature of MLB.tv. All players mic'd all the time, and as a subscriber, you get to choose which audio stream to listen to.

That kind of feature seems like it would fit in better on the facebook broadcasts...

Cubs: We're sorry, Tommy, but we've decided to designate you for assignment.

TLS: What? Why? Am I not hitting well enough?

Cubs: No, no, you're doing fine. It's your live stream views. You're not pulling in enough traffic.

Rusty Staub passed away.

He was one of my favorite non-Cubs when I was a kid. Bright red hair. Smooth lefty swing. Played for the Tigers some, which was my grandpa’s team.

The guy lived a pretty amazing life off the field too, summed up well in this nice obit from ESPN:

My greatest disappointment as a fan is we never got footage of Roast pursuing a streaker.

The Yankees announced on Friday that they’ve placed outfielder Aaron Hicks on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right intercostal muscle. He’ll join fellow outfielders Jacoby Ellsbury (right oblique strain) and Clint Frazier (concussion) on the disabled list. Outfield prospect Billy McKinney has been recalled from Triple-A in place of Hicks.

McKinney gonna make his big league debut

I think we might have a Vaunted Yankees situation here. I think they might disappoint quite a bit

They are going to score too many runs to disappoint. I think the BoSox May be in that category.

So dumb. Shouldn’t you not be shifting in that situation then?

Dozier 'explained' that the Orioles didn't hold a runner on first and the Twins didn't try to steal, so the Orioles should have reciprocated when they shifted. To get upset over that situation(one hitter, you're up 7) trends pretty close to mental illness.

Random but I always thought fouls would be included in swinging strikes (swstr%) rate. Is that not the case?
