The Yankees announced on Friday that they’ve placed outfielder Aaron Hicks on the 10-day disabled list with a strained right intercostal muscle. He’ll join fellow outfielders Jacoby Ellsbury (right oblique strain) and Clint Frazier (concussion) on the disabled list. Outfield prospect Billy McKinney has been recalled from Triple-A in place of Hicks.

McKinney gonna make his big league debut

And just like that, he got hurt.

Is it just me or have there been a lot of injuries to start the season?

For anyone who hasn't been keeping up with the Gabe Kapler saga:

https://bit.ly/2Hbg0dC

https://deadspin.com/gabe-kaplers-cosmi ... 1824241350

It's genuine nightmare fuel for fans. One of my classmates is a Philly fan and she was asking me what I knew about their weird manager and why he was doing the things he was doing. I didn't know who it was our convo went like this:

"It's a former player, I think he played for the Red Sox and he's weird"

"Gabe Kapler?"

"Yeah that sounds right"

"Oh yeah, that dude made one of the greatest fail gifs of all time!"

And I proceeded to show her this:

Hers was a cautious laughter. He's seriously going to get fired REAL quickly for REALLY qualifiable purposes.

Adrian Beltre set the record for hits by a Latin born player today and tied Rickey Henderson on the all time hit list. Might be one of the most underrated and under appreciated careers of all time.

TIL Beltre got his 3000th hit last year and that Rod Carew wasn’t born in the US

He’ll probably pass Ichiro this year to have the record for foreign born

This is completely true. If I were heavily drugged in Citi I could be convinced I was in Denver as I walked around the consessions.

Not so fun early baseball stats: stupid dumb jerk Ohtani has already hit 3 dongs. The Cubs as a team have hit 6.

Yeah, that edited photo made the rounds on twitter a week ago or so. (My friend is alone in a sea of black, center left.) What is crazy is a newspaper publishing an op-ed like this about its OWNERSHIP (which, incidently, is completely true):

Ohtani has 3 bombs and a 1.300 OPS and a 2.08 ERA w/18 Ks in 13 innings. that's awesome

Looks like Wrigley will have to wait another few years to get another ASG. The only NL team with a longer drought just got it

Saw this in a FanGraphs article by Travis Sawchik:

In that piece, this author cited a 2016 paper titled “Turning up by Turning Over” published in the Journal of Business Psychology, which studied 712 players who changed teams in the major leagues from 2004 to -15. The study concluded there are benefits for certain players in changing teams, particularly players that had been in decline. The study asserted there is a real change-of-scenery effect.

The Cubs should send whateve that study is to the Phillies and others who even might be interested in Heyward during the offseason.
