It's probably due to Reddit. Somebody posted this thread:Road to 267.2 WAR

Which lead to somebody asking if he could come up with the lowest WAR player of all time, to which somebody responded by posting Neifi Perez.

Despite being comprised of literally the most valuable seasons at every age in all of baseball, WAR King still hit home runs and walked at a slower rate than Barry Bonds. This has been your daily reminder of the statistical absurdity that was Barry Bonds' career.

Meh. Rate stats take a pretty hard hit when you include a 43 year old catcher and Julio Franco’s decaying corpse.

this very thing led to an open revolt on my high school team, as the head coach preached extreme swing techniques designed to make a lot of contact on the ground. We hated him long before people really realized the power of power.

I refuse to believe this is a real person simply for the fact that they haven't been murdered in the parking lot by an overzealous parent for calling a 4-3 putout safe because it was productive.

Ha...that quote is at least a year old, iirc. I remember watching him say that when he was at MLB Network's studio explaining his swing.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

Jack Morris? Ugh. That's basically like putting Buehrle in the HoF.

I'm assuming he's getting this for lame things like wins and that he was one of the relatively few pitchers with real longevity in an era that was short on that.

The HoF pretty much sucks. I mean, the old memorabilia is pretty neat but outside of that it's kind of a waste.

Boston Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright was arrested Friday night in Williamson County, Tenn., and charged with domestic-related assault and prevention of a 911 call, according to local authorities. Both charges are misdemeanors, and Wright later was released from custody after he posted bail.

According to a Houston player, the Astros often knew what Darvish was about to throw by the way he brought the ball into his glove in the set position. (Darvish pitches exclusively out of the stretch.) The player said it worked like this: Darvish holds the ball at his side when he gets the sign from the catcher. Whether he re-grips or not as he brings the ball into his glove was the tip-off whether he was going to throw a slider/cutter or a fastball.
