James Paxton wanted to top his 16K game (that the Mariners blew). Well, he did it by throwing a no-hitter. When he's on and fully healthy he is arguably one of the top 5 pitchers in the game. He only struck out 7 people in this game. Did it under 100 pitches too!

We're now over a month into the season, and the NL is 28-15 against the AL and neither Baltimore nor Texas has played any interleague yet.

What does that have to do with Matt Kemp?

What does that have to do with Matt Kemp?

I think his point is that it is May.

I'm pretty sure his point was he forgot they traded him.

so i kept hearing all this talk about the cubs regretting not re-signing arrieta and how he's doing great in philly and i looked at his numbers and...uh...no?

i mean i guess he hasn't given up many runs outside of getting shelled by the marlins, but he's not striking anyone out and he's still walking a lot of guys

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

This is a perfect example of Dave Attel's "drinking = time travel" bit.

It’s really not about this year. I mean, he could be pretty good and it wouldn’t be shocking. The issue with Jake is how will he fare over the years of th me contract and will his production justify the dollars.

Good move in letting him walk.

Kelvin Herrera has a 14 to zero K/BB rate over 13.2 innings.

That's pretty good.

He's probably pitching himself onto a contender by the deadline and then to a pretty nice contract in the offseason.

A week ago my brother sent me a blurb that that division was 23-53 against teams outside the division. I can't imagine that has gotten much better.

Yeah, but they are .500 against teams in the division, sooooo...

If he pitches well this year, he's only got two years left after this one. It's really not going to be a big deal at that point. The reason the narrative is out there about the Cub regretting not signing him is that Yu has been disastrous so far and the two are going to be compared to each other for the next six years.

So long as Yu turns out OK for the first four seasons of his contract, all is well.

Not saying it will happen, but the Cubs coming back from a 3-1 deficit to win the World Series does seem like the appropriate way to cap off this season and make the 30-for-30 even better.

Yeah I don't understand this. Chase field is a fine facility, it would be a waste of money to move the team.

Maybe they just don't want the dodgers swimming in the pool after clinching anymore.

For the Cubs/D'Backs series I went to last year, the immediate surrounding blocks of Chase Field are sort of a dump/dead. One big appeal of a Scottsdale move could be to create that "Wrigelyville" / "Ballpark Village" feel outside the stadium. Not worth it though.
