I think this is the first time I've ever said this, but that's a really smart decision by the Marlins.

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread
I've followed Kim Ng's career since the 90's when she was with the Yankees, who were touting her as a potential GM even then. This is multiple decades in the making, big deal to the point my sister who couldn't care less about baseball texted me (how I found out). She woulda coulda shoulda been hired at any point in the last say 15 years for a GM job probably, so I guess that's annoying, but this makes me glad

Because it's the Marlins, I hate how much I admire this move. Good on them.

I mean, Tim Hudson, then Torii Hunter, but also probably neither? Buerhle as the undeserving anti-stats pick dark horse

Apparently the Rockies and Reds have a “significant” deal in place.

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread
How to make baseball a more exciting game:
- - limit each game to 4 innings, similar to 4 "quarters" in basketball and football (with extras "overtime" if needed)
- Remove 1 outfielder (only 2 outfielders = more offense)
- remove short stop (there isn't a base for them, why should they have an infield position? = more offense)
- If a player hits a home run, they get to hit again
- between innings the stadium lights are dimmed, zoomer/music/strobelights are blasted everywhere with cheerleaders
- Large slow pitch softballs instead of baseballs (but they are allowed to throw them overhand)
- Allow metal / corked bats

Re: General Baseball Chit-Chat Thread
So apparently MLB is claiming that coronavirus is causing physical damage to the stadiums so that they can file an insurance claim? I don't have access to the article, so I'm going off of the excerpt in the tweet....

The rich get richer while the poor get poorer. After they possibly collect on the insurance claim, they will increase ticket prices to cover the increase in their insurance premiums. It's a never ending cycle.

They will increase ticket prices if/when demand allows for it, not to cover the cost of something else.

COVID has raised the price of quite a few things regardless of demand already. Businesses and corporations use any excuse to raise prices.

If it was regardless of demand then demand would be unable to support arbitrarily higher prices

If the higher prices are on necessities, then people don't have a choice as to whether they pay the higher prices or not.
