Darn, hopefully they dont hire someone who is actually good. It's been an enjoyable 10 years of the Cardinals manager holding them back to varying degrees

Cards either got lazy or they really didn’t like Shildt. No mention of the playoff appearances and no positive statements from anyone about Shildt’s tenure there.

I didn’t catch much of the Cards this year so I don’t know how good a manager he was, but didn’t STL meet or exceed expectations this season? It’s not like they were going to make it to the NLCS.

this is pretty surprising and out of the blue. i was gonna say that maybe this is a gruden situation where he got caught being super racist, but that would probably just make him more popular among cardinal fans.

I feel odd saying this but I hope it's not Stubby Clapp who by all accounts might be their best choice.

Stubby Clapp is the most 1930's sounding manager name I have ever heard in my life.

And his real first name is Richard. Missed a golden opportunity to be known forever as Dick Clapp.
