Weren't some posters licking their chops of few years back, trying to figure out who the Cubs could trade to pry him away from the Mets? My, how the mighty have fallen.

Oh horsefeathers. Flew back to LA to get checked out. And biceps injuries seem to be precursors to TJS.

He's had it before. But, he's got some miles obviously. As much as I hate the Dodgers, I'm hoping he's OK.

Pretty good Brisbee article, with an analogy that may be the greatest ever.

I don't think so...I think the vast majority here were against the trade that Mets fans and the media seemed to think was inevitable because TOO MANY SHORTSTOPS.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

http://m.mlb.com/glossary/injuries/lat-strain

Mets ace Noah Syndergaard suffered a lat strain in 2017. He began his rehab assignment roughly five months after being placed on the disabled list. Other pitchers to deal with the injury include Jake Peavy, Roy Halladay, Kerry Wood, Stephen Strasburg, Trevor Rosenthal and Huston Street.

They could be toying with the 10-day DL, too, though.

But if you head over to Mets Refugees, I'm sure they've heard something similar about 30 times. Lat strains are often thought to be minor when that turns out not to be the case, and those things can linger, too.

Did they mention inflammation in his shoulder or something? How do you go from a pitcher complaining about shoulder pain to a lat strain? That's weird.

Syndergaard tore his lat muscle IIRC so that's why he missed so much time, but you are correct about how tricky lat injuries can be.

Yeah. I didn't mean to compare it to Syndergaard, but was only meaning to show that lat injuries aren't good and a lot of pitchers that break down have suffered lat injuries. And it's a hard thing to diagnose correctly. It often ends up worse than imagined.

Indeed. I remember Kerry Wood's lat injury lasted for awhile. It seemed to just never go away or get better.

Since SNL just ended and I'm 34 so life is hollow now...

Taking Mets scheduled days off after games in Miami, limiting it to '16-'17 because Harvey wasn't bad until then, and Collins was fired, eliminating 2nd half of 2016 because he was on DL, and eliminating April of 2017 because he was off to a good start, I've got it at 9-22-17. (Harvey's start in the Miami series was 4 IP, 12 H, 7 R, 2/2.)

Vet Mets still around then:

Jose Reyes
Asdrubal Cabrera
Nori Aoki(joined the team in September)
Jerry Blevins

I guess it could be somebody like DeGrom, but that doesn't seem to be what the quote is getting at. I guess Reyes or Blevins?
