I believe Jack Patterson gets his 2nd start at Tennessee tonight, making it the rare night where all affiliates have a starting pitcher worth monitoring.

Alzolay with 2 hits allowed, 0 BBs and 5 Ks through 3 shutout innings. Great bounce back effort so far.

Russell with a HBP and another bomb. Maybe a team this offseason would still trade something for him if he keeps mashing at AAA? Haha, who am I kidding. Everyone mashes at AAA this year.

1/3 with a 2B and a BB from Amaya, continues to be an animal at MB. If DSL-MWL Amaya were a Charmander, it would be safe to say he has evolved into Charmeleon and just in time for AA/Lindor's time in Cleveland winding down. Ademan went 2/3 with a 3B and a SB, easy to forget he'll be joining Amaya in Tennessee at 21 next year if not traded this offseason

Some prospects on MLB.com's top 100 in front of Amaya that I wouldn't take over even High A Amaya:

Pache, Pearson, Bart, Trammel, K. Ruiz, Hayes, Madrigal, Murphy (good C prospect just not healthy this year), R. Greene, Hoerner, Greene, W. Smith, Graterol, D. Garcia, Florial, Langeliers, Mountcastle (mostly because of his glove), Honeywell, Lynch, Huff, Garcia, Balazovic, Crouse, Morejon

OTOH sucks that game called early since Marquez may have gotten more innings. Looks like he'll finish the year with close to 100 IP, making 130 maaaaaaaaaaybe even 140 innings an ideal possibility next year. I like that he's been going 5 and even 6 more often lately but also question why that seems to be the limit even when his pitch counts aren't crazy

Yep, he has taken quite the step forward in his development this season. Definitely not the same pitcher he was when he started the year. It's great to see. That's 5 great starts in a row, and you can probably go back 7 games to see where his progression really started. It doesn't seem like a flash in the pan. Something clicked. Since the calendar flipped to July, he's walked way fewer batters, allowed way fewer hits and struckout a lot more guys than in the first 3 months of the season.

Since July 1st: 7 starts, 37.1 IP, 20 H, 5 ER, 1 HR, 11 BB, 49 K, 1.21 ERA, 0.83 WHIP.

It's really remarkable what he's done since the end of June. It looks for real. Let's hope it continues...

Man, Kohl Franklin has yet to have a bad start this season.

3 innings, no hits, no earned runs, 1 BB, 5 Ks tonight. He's yet to allow more than 1 ER in a start this season.

Well the pitching sure didn't disappoint yesterday. A recap:

Alzolay - 4 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 7 Ks (69 pitches)

Patterson - 5.2 IP, 6 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 3 K, 8:2 GO/FO ratio (94 pitches)

Marquez - 5 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 4 K (64 pitches)

Franklin - 3 IP, 0 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 5 Ks (43 pitches)

Miguel Amaya has a 127 wRC+ as a 20 year old in High A, while playing the most demanding defensive position. That's for the entire season. He's sitting on a 140 wRC+ over the past 2 months (170 PAs). He's at a stupid 167 wRC+ since June 29th (123 PAs). He honestly still should be in everyone's conversation for best prospect in the system.
