Hopefully that's his last game in Iowa before the call-ups.

Checked out Almora. He is broken... The Cubs need to reinvent him this winter.

There is no reinventing. It’s not like Bote who was hitting the piss out of the ball on the ground and needed a swing tweak to get a little more launch. Almora just horsefeathering sucks.

If he can get back to his 2017 numbers he'd be useful.

I'd be cool with him getting back to his 2016 scoring-the-go-ahead-run-in-Game-7-of-the-World-Series ways.

17 YO Richard Gallardo threw a couple innings for Eugene. I am fully ready to finally like a Cubs' SP prospect, Theo!

And replaced by Gallardo!

Unfortunately, Yovanny Cruz crapped the cushions...

Gallardo threw all three of his pitches, got whiffs on the fastball - topped out at maybe 92-93 - and curve (now less loopy and a little harder than the low 70s one he signed with), didn't give up a hit, recovered after walking the first two...He's built like a future brickhouse, already strong but plenty of room to get stronger, is a natural strike thrower once he's settled, commands his stuff already, goes right after guys but also shows the ability to sequence and set up hitters to chase the fastball up or breaking ball down and away...Guy's 17, two years younger than the youngest pitchers Theo has sent to the NWL and he'll handle it like a boss, hopefully he'll get another outing in with only 5-6 games left and playoffs unlikely

R on R changeup, his third pitch entering pro ball for a whiff in a non-Rk league from a 17 YO Cubs pitcher and the most impressive thing is how casually he delivers it. Look at how he uses his lower body, generating velocity through separation and angles rather than just trying to muscle the ball like most teenagers. That is a crazy advanced delivery for his age, true when signing really. By the time his foot lands that arm is just ready extend through the release, decelerate naturally. Stay healthy!

End of the season for the 17 YO arm and he was able to sit basically where he was topping out last summer for at least an inning:

Don't forget Badler had him up to 95 in a Spring update...more to come, no doubt!

Trying to drop a slow curve in for strike 1:

Buried curve to a LHH for a swinging K:
