So subtracting Candy and Paredes, 8 of the top 10 Cubs' prospects are pitchers. Not that it means much, but when was the last time they were anywhere close to having that many pitchers in the Top 10 of their organization??

Unfortunately it doesn't mean that they have 8 good pitchers, just that almost all the good hitters are gone...

Yep. It's just crazy to see so many pitchers listed that high (for the Cubs, which isn't high in the overall lists). Hopefully a few of those guys can be productive in a Cubs' uniform. Or used to get productive pieces from other teams.

Willson has a younger brother, William, playing rookie-ball in the Braves' system, and he looks like he might be a decent prospect.

Staggeringly small sample size alert, but 2017 pick Ben Hecht, since the promotion to Eugene, has recorded every out via K.

Apparently, the Indue Leagues are choc full of former Cubs prospects this year. I know that few people care about this type of thing, but I get a kick out of it:

American Association

Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks
-Trey McNutt 6.56 ERA, 1.971 WHiP

Winnipeg Goldeneyes
-Wes Darvill .346/.398/.463 3HR
-Tony Thomas .295/.356/.512 13 HR
Also on this team are Ryan Zimmerman and..wait for it...Kevin Millar.

Texas Air Hogs
-James Russel 2.79 ERA/1.172 ERA

Gary Rail Cats
-Josh Conway 6.00 ERA/2.333 WHiP

Sioux City
Tony Campana .323/.371/.364 (same ol' Campy)
Nate Samson .328/.391/.506 4 HR
Josh Vitters .185/.220/.254 :(
PJ Francescon 2.04 ERA/0.934 WHiP

Does Andy MacPhail own this team?

ATLANTIC LEAGUE

Steve Clevenger (Lancaster Barnstormers)
Other notable Barnstormers: Daniel Moskos, Lastings Millege

Scott Maine (Sugarland Skeeters)

Michael Burgess (York Revolution)

Casey Colman (New Britain Bees)

Long Island Ducks: David Aardsma, (notable non-Cubs) Alfredo Simon, Henderson Alvarez

FRONTIER LEAGUE:

Joliet:
Rock Shoulders- .205/.318/.386 with 10HR

I also enjoy that stuff. And there's plenty of former Cubs abroad:

KBO: Jae Kuk Ryu, Brooks Raley, Jake Brigham, Donn Roach, Carlos Villanueva (non-Cubs: Jeff Manship, Alexi Ogando, Anthony Ranaudo)

Japan: Casey McGahee, Kosuke Fukudome (yep), Marcus Mateo, Spencer Patton, Jay Jackson, Kyuji Fujikawa, Rafael Dolis, Phil Coke, Tsuyoshi Wada, Stephen Fife.

Italy: Ronny Cedeno (also Mark Teahan)

For the longest time when people would talk about Tseng, in my mind I was thinking it was Jae-Kuk Ryu and I was like how horsefeathering long has this guy been around

Why doesn't anyone mention the fine season that Daury Torrez is having in Tenn? Is he a legit prospect or not?

He's a non-dominant relief prospect after the ERA who took 7 seasons to reach AA. As far as making the Cubs while they're awesome, he's not a legit prospect.

If you want a 24 YO sleeper arm throwing well in AA check out Craig Brooks. The third year pro might walk some guys but keeps the ball in the park, racks up Ks, and is tough to hit. Not a legit prospect either but a higher quality one than Torrez.
