This is good. With his age and him repeating the level, it was hard to put too much stock into what seem like genuine improvements.

Herz was basically immaculate for four innings and then the wheels came off in the fifth.

Pinango has two more singles after the first inning dong and Caissie's 2/3 with a double.

Cam Sanders looking good at Iowa. 95-98 FB, flashing a plus curve. Hopefully at some point in the next few months he can continue his way up.

Also, Ball continues to hit with a single in his 1st ab for the Tenn RBI

A lot of really great things are happening in the minor leagues for the Cubs organization. I wish Howard didn’t get injured. Hopefully Davis can get healthy.

The depth has really improved. Still need to see higher ceilings from the top 5 to make it a great system but I don't recall this much depth even when they had top systems in 02 and 15.

Horsefeathers the Rule 5, Sanders will see the MLs this year if this keeps up (I hope):

(Since he never developed much of a change) If that slider can be an out pitch to lefties, it'll go a long way in him becoming a starter instead of a middle reliever with fringy command.

Owen Caissie since 4/29: .273/.368/.424, 7.9% BB, 18.4% K
James Triantos since 4/20: .338/.420/.454, 11.4% BB, 14.8% K
Reggie Preciado since 5/1: .300/.333/.433, 3% BB, 27.3% K

FG doesn't have groundball data in their gamelogs, but still feels like Caissie and Triantos are too on the ground right now, while obviously Reggie's not walking enough. Still great to see three guys who started the year in deep funks start to come out of it.

Also, as a bonus, here's Yonathan Perlaza since 4/28: .270/.471/.568, 25.5% BB, 23.5% K

Feels like we need to talk about him more. All the scouting folks are very meh on him, but there's a lot of fun stuff in his offensive profile and he's no longer *that* far away from the majors.

^^ Caissie's K rate is league or a little under over of his last 54 PAs too so there's some real progress happening even if he's not the 18% guy from the above 38 PA run. Nice...Triantos could find himself in SB pretty soon if he keeps this up

I don't eliminate him from like a reliever to starter conversion in his late 20s-early 30s one day, that's on him and healthy, loose with innings is more than most, but see him as someone who can be pretty successful in shorter outings and have some ceiling in the bullpen. Looking at him as a relief prospect more than a SP prospect the pitch mix is relatively wide, he's got the arm strength and velocity, some experience, agreed on fringy command but less fringy than most vying for the more nebulous roles on pitching staffs thanks to the innings and health...Def see him as more Ryne Stanek on a staff more than a Samardzija or Lorenzen but that would be a pretty sweet from a 12th round pick

Ed Howard looked like he belonged in that group of kids turning it around but instead, his season is over.
