2-2 and pushing that OPS back toward .900. Man, I'd love to see him, Candelerio, and Soler at the same level next year.

I'd make a trip to Florida just to see a series. That would be nuts.

Or California! (Man, imagine their stats if they played in the California League.)

Probably going to be a little bit hard for Candelario and Almora to catch up to Baez in the minors. Soler could have an issue as well obviously.

Soler is older than the rest.

Yeah, I know. Just figuring they'll take it slow with him this year for sure. And he'd have to really show quite a bit to be placed in Daytona to start with in 2013, which is where I fully expect baez to be by then. I guess it's going to depend on exactly how raw Soler is. If he rakes, all bets are off, he could shoot past Baez, which would obviously be awesome to see. :D

Almora wasn't in the original post commented on. I think that there's no way possible he's in high A next year. I'm using High A as a reference because no reason Baez shouldn't be there. And it's at least possible that Candelario and Soler are there, though I'd put it at 10% that Candelario is that high up next year. Soler, I'd put more 50/50 depending on if/when he gets in some games this year and how he performs.

I don't care about wins and losses in the minors, but today's Chiefs loss probably sucked. Up 3-1 in the 9th, 2 outs, bases loaded, with a 2-2 count, game gets put in a rain delay. First pitch after the delay was a bases clearing double.

Yeah, that sucks a lot.

@peoriachiefs 5-4 fielders choice puts runners on the corners and 1 out for Matt Scioscia. and it is now raining....Hard

@peoriachiefs The umpires let the batter stop the game. Its now a rain delay with a 2-2 count, 2 outs and bases loaded in the 9th.

@peoriachiefs I've never seen Casey (and Ron Villone) that mad at umpires. Chiefs will now have to change pitchers when this game resumes

@nbaliva I've seen some dumb crazy decisions in my 10 years, but this one takes the cake. #raindelay #notsmart

@peoriachiefs Casey and Ron taking the tarp off the bullpen mounds themselves so Liria can warmup sicne all Kernels employees are rolling up the big tarp

@PeoChiefsGame 1 pitch and the Chiefs lose 4-3. Double to left by Stamets scores 3. Casey out to let the umps know how unhappy he is again.

@nbaliva Hoping we dont see those two umps again. Ever.

Don't like Liria staying in the game after a 32-minute delay.

Was at the game today

Really like Jensen, hit 95 a few times!

My sense is that most of Baez's errors are when he tries to make a play when theres no play to be made. He threw two balls away today that had no business being thrown.

Very promising looking bat, but will definitely need to work on his approach at the plate, especially once he reaches the higher levels.

And yes, the Peoria managers were mad, and threw a trash can on the field after the game. (which was probably a bit over the top)

Outside of Baez, Jensen and Reed, Peoria is pretty "meh" right now.

Jensen's got some fringe mid-rotation ceiling potential, but admittedly, I keep thinking he might be better ripping it out of the pen as a pen arm. That said, considering the dearth of quality SP prospects, you keep him at SP until he can't or there is better.

Out of curiosity, did you get any velo readings on Liria? Granted, it probably wasn't an ideal situation for him.

_____

davell noted them, but Geiger and Rosario both deserve some attention. I dogged Cates a bit, but he's definitely still an intriguing arm. Peralta still has some solid SP potential if he can put it together. He's getting more groundballs this year in his 2nd go-around for Peoria, but let's see if those numbers hold. I'd like to like Antigua ... but I'd also like to know what the heck the Cubs plan is with him.

Wow, I probably have Rosario somewhefe in the 15-20 range right now. His stuff seems good too, why are you down on him?

I imagine you're in the extreme minority to consider Jensen more favorably than Rosario. I'd love to hear some more on your thought process on Rosario.

No way is Rosario "meh"

a reasonable floor for him would be good set-up guy, which is pretty valuable these days

He's really quietly had a really good season. 8.09 K/9, 2.89 BB/9, 54% groundballs. Granted, a lot of that is off of his excellent June, but he was solid in May and so far in July.

I'm higher on Rosario than Jensen (although Jensen does crack my top 30 right now, so he's not that far behind), but Rosario's command of his breaking ball still seems ... to be a work in progress.

I think Rosario's ceiling is higher than Jensen's overall, but Jensen's floor (chances of making it) as a starter can be argued to be higher than Rosario's.
