Postby CaliforniaRaisin » Fri Jan 11, 2013 11:26 pm

This is a tie-breaking run-off vote between Barrett Loux and Ben Wells for the Cubs #23 prospect (serious votes only, please!). Please post your rationale below. The loser of the run-off vote will be the #24 prospect.

If someone convinces you that the other player should be higher, please feel free to change your vote anytime between now and Sunday.

Results so far:

#1: Javier Baez
#2: Jorge Soler
#3: Albert Almora
#4: Arodys Vizcaino

#9: Dillon Maples
#10: Josh Vitters
#11: Pierce Johnson
#12: Junior Lake
#13: Jeimer Candelario
#14: Duane Underwood
#15: Matt Szczur

Both have arm issues to be concerned with at this moment in time, so the question for me is, does Loux's polish/readiness overcome Wells upside? For me, the answer is an easy no, particularly since Wells has youth and frame to his advantage as it pertains to the potential of working through whatever the specific issues were last year.

Edit: Meant to say Loux's polish/readiness (not ceiling) vs. Wells upside

I went with Loux due to proximity to majors. If Wells hadn't hurt his arm I would have voted for him

Wells, I had him ranked higher than Loux. I like the upside and even though he has injury issues, *it's only looking like it would take TJS to fix him.* TJS doesn't have a huge impact on affecting guys stuff/careers anymore other than losing a year +/- of development, which is still an issue. Without those issues I would've had wells inside my top 12.

Same thought process for me.

I wasn't all that impressed with Wells when I saw him pitch for Boise.
