Since 2012 she's supported same-sex marriage. She's a Hindu, so if you want to consider that a cult, feel free to rock that stance.

Her biggest remaining problem (as far as I can tell) is her questionable attitude toward Muslims. That's something she'll hopefully have to confront in the primaries.

Right, you're vastly over-simplifying it. It's not accurate to effectively say, "well, Trump happened, so ANYTHING can happen!" That's simply not the case. The most obvious reason why should be comparing the standards/expectations held by Democratic voters vs. Republican voters.

I think the most ironic thing about Gabbard is that so much of this is likely hinged on how she backed Sanders, and yet she lives up to so many of the things that Sanders supporters demonized Clinton over. Like, she IS the worryingly hawk-ish candidate saddled with all kinds of problematic money and long track record of saying the VERY wrong thing when it comes to certain social groups.

I still kinda scratch my head over the fact Kim Reynolds (R) won gubernatorial election, but 3 of 4 congressional districts in IA turned blue. Guess that strongly implies the Dem gov. candidate was a nothingburger, but I digress.

Oh, and Joni Ernst can go eat a bag of dog horsefeathers in any event for all I care.

don’t ever underestimate how solidly red all of rural Iowa is. I found it interesting during the 16 election when visiting back home, where the closest big city (5000 people) is 20+ miles, that no campaign signs were pro-Trump. but damn near all of them said “Hillary for prison”

WaPo reporting Trump kept Trump/Putin interrupter notes away from officials in his own government.

Apparently, stable-genius, and definitely not a compromised person, called into Jeanine Pirro's show & went off the rails.

Julian Castro enters the 2020 race as well. I'm sure he's just angling as done sort of interesting VP choice, but even for that role, he gets a gigantic yawn from me.

Honestly curious, why? He’s not my first choice right now, but he does check quite a few boxes.

Man, it still annoys me Clinton went with walking zilch Tim Kaine as her VP pick over Castro. Castro made so much more damn sense for the nod.

It’s a reflection of her entire campaign. She wasn’t nearly aggressive enough in the Midwest, she was middle of the road on policy and she chose Mr Bland as a Veep.

Well here's hoping that the lessons from 2016 and 2018 will produce a primary field with almost no white men**

Huh? What lessons do you think occurred? I wouldn't mind Sherrod Brown at ALL. Hell, he might be my preferred candidate at this point.

He is my choice right now, although Kamala Harris is intriguing.

The lessons that Tim Kaine as a vanilla nothing person got nobody to the polls, combined with the historic number on non-white male people voted to Congress

Who are the likely candidates beyond Biden, Brown and Sanders that inexplicably have you thinking the field is going to be deluged with old white guys? Nearly every halfassed projection of likely 2020 Democratic candidates has it filled with far more women and/or PoC than crusty white dudes.

I'm not expecting 20 crusty white dudes to emerge into the primaries. I'm worried that the DNC will throw their weight (and money) behind one of the few crusty white dudes who show up

Sure seems this fact has been memory-holed, at least among legacy media and non-media centrist-types.
