Weird Al announces a new tour. No parody songs.

“Weird Al” Yankovic has announced that his 2018 North American tour will be a “no frills” one that will feature obscure songs and no props, costumes, or video screens. It’s called “The Ridiculously Self-Indulgent, Ill-Advised Vanity Tour.”

In Champaign Mar 30th, and at the Vic on April 6 and 7.

Anyone else pretty disappointed in the direction St. Vincent went with the last two albums? She's still enormously talented, beautiful, and cool as horsefeathers, but I can't get into this whole industrial vibe with her.

She's always been someone I feel like I should like her albums a lot, yet her music has always left me pretty cold. This new one especially just feels like a collection of genre exercises, like, "hey, look how many different styles of music I can do while generically singing about how people are fake and plastic and like money and stuff!"

Yep. Even Strange Mercy is pretty detached lyrically/tonally despite being awesome, in my opinion. Still way more PJ Harvey than...whatever she is now

It doesn't help that my TV app version of YouTube wants to continually play her new singles before everything I watch, too. But you're dead on in how these last two albums are a really odd swerve to keep going. You do it once? OK, tried something new...but what's the point of going to this well again? Who the heck is this album even for?

saw king krule and flying lotus over the last two weeks. second time seeing king krule (missed him opening for real estate a few years back); show was excellent. archy is really gifted musically and if you haven't checked out his album THE OOZ, do so.

6th time seeing flying lotus live and easily the best of the bunch. he's got a 3d rig with him that is incredible. the entire audience is provided 3d glasses to watch him do his thing. he played for about an hour although i was bummed he didn't play any tracks from his first two albums (1983 and los angeles). was unsure if he was going to comment on the gaslamp killer's rape allegations like he did in los angeles a few weeks ago but other than asking the audience to keep shows like his "a safe space," nothing was mentioned.

i recently blew my own mind when i realized that there are two different "the boys are back in town" and my mind usually goes to the less popular one when i read/hear a reference to it (but not always).

also along these lines, george michael has two different songs called freedom (which explained why one was called freedom! 90 or whatever)

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

when you guys read "the boys are back in town" do you think of the bluesy one or the thin lizzy one?
