Second comment on the article:

He is really no different than your typical left wing SJW. Just a different agenda of hate.

What the holy horsefeathers:

https://splinternews.com/former-cop-acq ... 1821127334

Jurors in Maricopa County, AZ, found former police officer Philip “Mitch” Brailsford not guilty on Thursday for the shooting death of unarmed 26-year-old Daniel Shaver in a hotel hallway last year, despite horrific video footage of the killing.

In bodycam footage which was shown to the jury, Shaver can be seen crying and begging for his life as he is told to crawl toward Brailsford in the hallway of a La Quinta Inn & Suites. As investigators later revealed, he was unarmed at the time. Brailsford—who has since been fired from the Mesa Police Department—eventually shot Shaver five times with an AR-15 rifle as he lay on the ground.

Do yourself a favor and don't watch the video. It's like something out of a nightmare.

Probably got Punisher skull logos all over their dicks, too.

I guess these idiots justify this by saying the guy reached for his waist, which happened only after many, many minutes of screaming confusing, contradictory commands and threats at a terrified drunk guy on his knees begging not be killed, and who could have easily been handcuffed many, many times before he was executed by a guy clearly just looking for an excuse to shoot.

A black woman suffered severe dog bites to her extremities in September after St. Paul police mistakenly allowed a K-9 animal to attack her earlier this year. She has filed a federal lawsuit against the department and the officer this week.

Fifty-two year old Desiree Collins was taking out the trash on the evening of September 23, when a police dog attacked her outside of her building, biting her arms and leg. Police say they were looking for a burglary suspect.

“You’re fine, you’re fine,” one of the officers kept saying, as Collins screamed in surprise and pain.

“What did I do?” Collins asked incredulously after they were able to subdue the animal.

“Nothing,” replied on of the officers. “Just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”

Seriously, why the horsefeathers are police attack dogs still a thing? Cops can't even control themselves half the time, and we want them to somehow to be able to control a vicious animal, too?

My brother in law is a K9 officer, but his dog isn’t an attack dog.

This guys leash was really long for no reason.

She’s suing the police department over it, though nothing will come if it

Obviously it's not fully representative of police as a whole, I realize, but I watch a lot of Live PD, and it's interesting how different departments handle their dogs. Most of the time there's a TON of warnings like "come out, you're gonna get bit", etc. And there's some departments that have muzzle policies...where the dogs are muzzled, even when searching unless it's a certain kind of violent suspect. But obviously the departments that agree to be on tv are gonna be the ones that actually are confident they are well run and well trained.

And I'll tell you, suspects are more afraid of dogs than they are cops with guns or tazers in a lot of instances.

This is pretty much it. As a former prosecutor and someone who still deals with criminal law every day of my life, I can definitely attest to this. In my time I’ve seen numerous dashcam footage of cops, who don’t even have a dog, get a suspect to come out from hiding just by yelling “we’re gonna let the dog loose! Come out!”

It’s very effective.

If it's basically just for the threat of using them, then the dogs need to be muzzled pretty much all the damn time they're in public.

I don't have any concrete data to back this up, but subjectively, this seems like a very rare occurrence...an innocent person getting attacked by a police dog.

For the past year we have fought with dozens of police/sheriff/state police departments for records of dog deployments. They keep those records and they will show how often they are used to search for drugs, as well as how accurate they are, and how often they are used to chase people, and how often they bite, main, etc, the right person.

Not one department has complied with our request.

My guess is that drug/bomb-sniffing dogs are nowhere near accurate enough to truly justify continuing to use such outdated methods.

But I could be wrong.

Yeah we made the request after a source tipped us off that it was well below 50 percent.

Those dogs noses are so sensitive they can smell residue. The problem is that they are too sensitive. I know a guy who has made himself minorly famous training giant pouched rats to sniff out tuberculosis and landmines in Africa. The rats are more accurate at detecting TB than machines.

I'd fly more often if our airports had a bunch of R.O.U.S.s
