Congratulations. Wow, moving and having a kid at the same time. That sounds rough...

Thanks again to those who gave me advice on dealing with the shin splints. Picked up some running shoes and haven't really had any issues since. The first time I used them my shins were sore for maybe five minutes when I stopped running, but even that was nothing compared to before. But since that I haven't had any pain or soreness at all.

Did you have someone analyze your stride, or just pick up a basic running shoe?

Went to a store for running shoes. The woman had me walk around so she could see how I walked and did a 3D scan of my feet before fitting me for some shoes. Because of the splints, she recommended higher cushion ones to start off with. Spent a little more than I would have liked but my in-laws gave me money for my birthday a couple months ago that I hadn't spent yet. They've helped quite a bit so it was worth it.

St Louis is always high on this list and people from the area will be quick to say it's biased because of the way the data is collected and always came down to some weird argument that the surrounding county areas should be included which would lower the rate. I still don't understand their beef except that a lot of towns have St Louis addresses even though they aren't actually part of St Louis... ? Anyone from the area have any idea what this nonsense is because I never understood it or tried to take that much time to care.

I'm not intimately familiar with the distinction, but I think it comes down to St. Louis being the only city in its county, which extends out to the Missouri River. Like you mention, there's towns large and small that are not St. Louis by any stretch, but technically carry St. Louis mailing addresses. It'd be like if Orland Park or Evanston carried Chicago addresses, and therefore counted in crime statistics.

I'm even less familiar why that distinction would mean the city's murder rate is artificially high, living on the other side of the river most of the towns I'm familiar with that shouldn't have St. Louis addresses are nicer/safer than places closer downtown.

Apparently they think Chicago crime statistics, for instance, include Cook county, which I don't think is the case at all.

The Cubs’ transaction list under Epstein and Hoyer reads like a work of fiction, a wish-fulfillment list composed in hindsight.

The negative review for that place makes me think it doesn't actually resist. That and the salsa pic and caption.

I mean, to continue my tortured metaphor: you don't want a hornet's nest in a closet, but I'm still not volunteering to hit it with a stick
