That’s actually inaccurate. That provision refers to prisoners who have committed crimes not needing to be compensated fairly. I’m honestly not sure which inference is more offensive.

This ongoing story about the CDC worker who mysteriously up and vanished is odd:

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/cdc-employ ... sappeared/

A $10,000 reward is being offered for information on the mysterious disappearance of an epidemiologist for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Timothy Cunningham disappeared more than two weeks ago after he left work early, saying he felt sick. As a "disease detective" at the CDC in Atlanta, Cunningham deployed to public health hot spots to investigate viruses like Ebola and Zika.

His next door neighbor, Viviana Tory, says Cunningham said something odd to her husband the day he went missing, reports CBS News' Omar Villafranca.

"He told my husband to tell his wife – me – to erase his cellphone number from my cellphone," Tory said.

Investigators returned to the woods around Cunningham's house Monday searching for more clues. His family found his wallet, his car, even his beloved dog all left behind in his Atlanta home. Cunningham's father, Terrell, drove from Maryland to Georgia after not hearing from his son for two days.

Granted, it's mostly odd because of his job with the CDC and the "felt sick" part when it's likely the poor guy probably took his own life, but still....

And now this weirdness happens in VA:

https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/27/politics ... index.html

Washington (CNN)Eleven people fell ill after a suspicious letter was opened in an administrative building at Joint Base Fort Myer-Henderson Hall in Arlington, Virginia, on Tuesday, according to the Arlington County Fire Department.

A law enforcement official said field tests for the letter all came back negative for any harmful substance, but the FBI is transporting it tonight to its lab in Quantico for further analysis.

Of the 11 individuals who felt ill, three were transported to a local hospital and are in a stable condition, a spokesperson for the department said.
"An envelope containing an unknown substance was received, today, aboard Joint Base Ft. Myer-Henderson Hall. Personnel in the affected building took immediate preventative measures by evacuating the building," according to Maj. Brian Block, a US Marine Corps spokesperson.

"Base officials and are coordinating with local HAZMAT teams and FBI. Several Marines are receiving medical care as a result of this incident. No additional details are available at this time as the investigation is ongoing," Block said.

The law enforcement official said the text of the letter contained derogatory, at time unintelligible and ranting language, and was addressed to a commanding officer at the base. Investigators are still determining what relationship, if any, the sender had with the base.

Toys R Us is closing it's remaining stores as soon as next week. Guess we'll be running there today to spend my kid's stockpile of gift cards from b-days and xmas.

It's a shame, but they never figured out how to compete with Amazon. There was nothing they did that distinguished themselves as the "go to" place for Toy shopping.

My kids are happily well past the toy phase of their lives, but I never like seeing a major retailer go down in flames (and all those jobs with it)

There was nothing to figure out, unfortunately; being a business that basically sells one thing* and taking up MASSIVE commercial real estate to do so isn't really something that can survive anymore unless it's for...horsefeathers, is there anything besides vehicles?

Maybe they could have made it if they consolidated the baby and kids apparel stores into the toy stores a while ago.

*Yeah, I know they sold horsefeathers like bikes and video games, too.

Adapt or you can always wait for your industry becomes obsolete and then use the power of racism and ignorance to elect a president that will do random things to prop up your business in the name of doing things the way we used to do things.

Coal miners: ~76,000 workers
Toys R Us: ~64,000 workers

Why isn't Trump putting tariffs on colorful plastic?

oh ok. so most sunday nights i'm ready to doze off around 10:30 but now that it's DLS my body is saying "horsefeathers SLEEP" in general (i suppose out of a peaceful protest). i've already taken a melotonin and i'm considering taking another but i can only assume it'll make me pass out to the point i'll be weeking-at-bernies at work tomorrow. (or not wake up when my alarm goes off)

maybe i can just roll into the office at 9 am and plead ignorance. i'm fairly sure it wouldn't be a hard sell all things considered.
