I went to one of the first schools facebook opened up to, and even though I had graduated, I still had my .edu email address but didn't want to go through that much effort to try and hook up with former classmates, they were mostly uggos anyway.

Nobody's saying that Twitter has more users than Facebook; Facebook is by far the top of the social networking heap. jersey's dismissal of Twitter like it's basically Friendster, however, was odd, given that it does have a very big user base (and clearly played a huge role in the 2016 election), and that that number isn't even counting all of the people that still read tweets and get information from Twitter without actually being Twitter users.

Removing Facebook from the landscape wouldn't somehow fix all of the problems that people act like are FB-centric or exclusive; the horsefeathers would just further migrate to platforms like YouTube and Twitter and Reddit and Instagram (owned by Facebook) and WhatsApp. That box is never getting closed.

It is pretty crazy when you think about how Twitter and Instagram basically have scores of users without being users. With Facebook, you have to jump through enough hoops to see a FB page that ultimately you're going to likely end up having a FB page of your own (I remember there being a really large number of ghoulish sites tracking MySpace pages by people who had died, and those sites themselves then died off pretty quickly once Facebook took over because it was far less likely you'd be able to see the profile page). Meanwhile I've never signed up for Twitter, yet I might as well be a user just from how many tweets I end up reading from this site alone (and then spiral off into reading other threads from those).

Hell, YouTube's numbers are through the roof and likely trounce FB if you look at it that way (assuming that those just under 2 billion numbers for YT are counting people who actually sign in and not just general web traffic).

Yeah, I had to wait while all of my friends at Colorado University got their facebook accounts and I was still posting to the javascript message board that none of my friends were using anymore.

Cut to 7 years later, and my Great Uncle posted a video of someone literally jerking off his prized showhorse. Facebook is the most pervasive and weirdest thing on the internet, entirely because people are weird as sh1t.

E-ticket question:

My wife bought hockey tickets (for a game she’s not going to) on her Ticketmaster account, but for whatever reason, it won’t let me log in to her account on my phone. She screen capped the QR codes for the tickets and texted the images to me. Will I have any issues getting into the game using the screen caps?

There is an Indian restaurant close to our house that has changed names like 3 times in five years. The food use to be great but it’s now Americanized and mediocre. We get take out there occasionally and the very best thing that has continued as the restaurant has changed is that they show nonstop Indian music videos. They are so awesomely over the top and filled with beautiful Indian people. I always get there early for pick up just so I can watch them.

Ok. Watch one and you’ll get it. If you don’t that’s ok too. The videos are a hoot.

No, it's the odd "beautiful Indian people" caveat. You already told us you're watching Indian music videos; why wouldn't music videos be filled with good-looking people, as almost all music videos are? It's like you felt you had to convince us or something; "no, no, these weren't those Indian music videos filled with those Indian uggos; these were BEAUTIFUL Indian people."

Like, either you weirdly want credit for saying you think Indian people in music videos are good-looking, or we're getting a glimpse at what does it for CubinNY. Just kinda odd!

This old news, but new to me:

Please note that resolution isn't very good, so I don't know if these are beautiful Russian people or not.
