oh he wants to keep out brown people because their countries of origin are horsefeathers HOUSES? well that's totally okay then!

perdue and cotton sure went from "i don't recall hearing anything like that" to "oh yeah he definitely said horsefeathers house" pretty quickly.

Apparently Mississippi and Alabama celebrate Robert E Lee Day on the same day as MLK Day because of course they do.

in fairness, those R's are likely also from "horsefeathers" areas that lack building plumbing and regularly use horsefeathers. that, and they are xenophobic racists horsefeathers.

From a sociological standpoint, it really is pretty interesting how little many Americans know about other parts of the world. People like Trump are fed jingoistic propaganda about America all their lives and never realize, understand, or want to understand how some things might be better in other countries. It's just a blanket America is the best country in the world without examining what they mean by that.

I would bet every single penny I have that Tump doesn't know there is no college tuition in Norway. I'd bet he has no idea that every single person's taxes are public in Norway. I think he might know about universal healthcare, but I wouldn't be on it. I'd also bet he has no idea that people in Norway, on average, live longer than Americans.

This goes true for a randomly selected middle-class Trump voter, college educated or not.

This is so true. I was at a funeral this weekend so I was with a bunch of family and friends. Politics came up (more specifically Trump "horsefeathers" comment. There was 15 of us in this conversation. Only 2 of us thought what he said was wrong. The other 13 were proud of Trump because he was speaking the "truth", how great our country is, etc. Meanwhile I mentioned all these stuff to these people (Trump is the President- there's a certain way you need to present yourself/Norway and other European countries' college, taxes, healthcare so why would these people want to come over/etc..). They were like, "No way that a country can support universal free college/healthcare so it's fake news and you need to stop lying."

I just got up and left after that. There's a lot more in between, but that's the gist of the conversation. Haven't talked to any one of those 13 since.

Bannon has been subpoenaed by Mueller to testify in front of a grand jury, according to the NYTimes.

http://www.newsweek.com/trump-black-mem ... ism-782468

Democratic Senator Dick Durbin called on Trump to consider the concerns of the Congressional Black Caucus, the Post reported.

According to people familiar with the meeting, Trump dismissed the suggestion and said the CBC’s view didn’t matter because he wasn’t going to change the policy to cater to them. He then said he “did not particularly care about that bloc’s demands," according to the newspaper.

I could see that one coming from a mile away. I have no idea why people think Bannon would flip. The Mercers have so much dirt on Bannon there is no way he's going to flip unless indicted.

This press briefing with the doctor who gave the physical is basically the press corps asking vague "Isn't the president a big fat idiot?" questions.

It's great.

Surely a coincidence that the president's reported BMI falls one pound short of the obesity threshold.
