Trump and the GOP are so beyond the pale at this point that that they managed to make the FBI, a well known collection of some of the worst horsefeathers heads you're ever going to find, into a collection of heroes for a lot of people who should REALLY know better.

Don't mistake them doing what they do out of spite and because their backs are against the wall as some kind heroic gesture on their part; guys like Comey and Strzok are still the same asshats they were before Election Day. Anything they end up doing to push back against Trump or via investigations into Trump and co. is a coincidental benefit, and not actually indicative of them not sucking 18 kinds of turds.

horsefeathers the FBI.

I'm not a fan of the FBI and certainly the history of the agency is fraught with problems, but I haven't read anything bad about Strzok (other than the affair if you want to judge him for that). I think he certainly defended himself well in the clip above, and I don't know enough about him to personally make a judgement on him. His texts were of a personal nature and I don't think it affected his work/judgement. I think in the hearing today he did well and I liked hearing what he had to say.

I agree on Comey and I don't like him, and think his judgment on the Clinton email debacle (whatever you want to call it) was terrible. He did serious damage and shouldn't have re-opened it after the Weiner laptop thing came up. Comey sucks and probably most people at the FBI suck, but I think there are exceptions and Strzok might be one of them.

They're arguably worse, but in a, "we're super evil, but we're so incompetent we actually just end up horsefeathering everything up literally every single time and it's the fallout from that that screws everyone over" kind of way. The FBI has often actually been really good at the diabolical horsefeathers they do.

Tim Weiner put an excellent/super depressing pair of books within the last decade about each agency that are well worth reading (and weeping over).

Yes you have. You know who he works for. The FBI has notoriously been one of the most conservative, vindictive and line-crossing of government agencies for its entire existence, and has routinely misused its power and position to further those agendas (and doing it essentially as their own little fiefdom). Just because Trump is a post-dip version of Judge Doom somehow come back to life doesn't suddenly make the FBI good guys; they're just the less evil guys right now. What you're seeing today (and from other FBI talking heads this year), is an over powered, under regulated law enforcement agency getting its hackles up because someone is getting in their face. Unfortunately, it's not anyone getting in their face for the right reasons, and it's instead dudes who are somehow EVEN WORSE THAN THE FBI.

I'm pretty sure that Trey Gowdy is some kind of horsefeathers up method role by Matthew McConaughey that somehow took control.

Rosenstein with a presser at 11:45 EDT.

Probably not what I'm hoping for, but I'm still hoping.

Decriminalization of marijuana? Hilarious that this would happen under AG Jeff Sessions.

And I just got back from Denver with a big ol' stash.

I'm watching the live stream. They still haven't announced the topic, but one of the reporters was saying that prosecutors from the Mueller's team were with a federal magistrate a couple blocks returning an indictment. So he's expecting the press conference will be relating to that.
