Yeah, what pressure is there really for him to withdraw? The GOP sure isn't gonna pressure him. The President isn't. And once he's in, he's in.

Disagree that McConnell, et al, won't pressure him to withdraw. It's the least bad of all their options, and might even light a fire under their base in November to ensure that a Conservative is confirmed. If they continue to support him they'll probably still not have the votes to confirm AND alienate women even more than they already have and further ignite the Left. Monday is going to get ugly for Kavanaugh, one way or the other. Their best bet is probably to nominate a new ultra Conservative and tell their base that the only way to confirm him is to go vote.

Not only that but, McConnell didn't want him in the first place.

Classic narcissistic personality.
It's getting pretty hairy how no one in Congress is standing up to him related to the information dump of the FISA records. He's dumping texts and other personal stuff that have no business being dumped somehow hoping that dirt will be found. In the process, he may be jeopardizing long-standing relations with our closest allies.

He just really loves firing people. It makes him feel like a big man. He loves firing people and bragging about firing people or painting colorful fantasies about firing people

huh. you know i never really thought of that.

maybe when this all mercifully ends he can even get his own reality TV show and he can just tell people they're fired or something.

Is Dr. Ford actually going to testify now? If she doesn't, Kavanaugh gets confirmed. If she does and Kavanaugh still gets confirmed, the Dems shot at the Senate increases to about 50/50 IMO.

It's unclear.

Republicans are demanding she testify under unworkable conditions or not at all. But that could just be posturing.

Supposedly, there are a bunch of Federal court employees who have a damaging story to tell about Kavanaugh but are afraid to come forward for fear of backlash. I think it may be related to when he was a clerk for a Federal judge who was booted off the bench for sexual harassment.

There is a good likelihood that the Democrats will move to impeach him for lying under oath. It's going to be a long messy affair.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/sep/19/florence-wilmington-north-carolina-social-divide

Blanks wiped her face and lit a cigarette. Another sweltering day post-Florence, she shooed her nephews and niece inside and up the stairs of the house. “Because it’s hot,” she said to them, shutting the front door closed. She turned back and said: “I’ve been keeping [them] in the house since the storm, because they be witnessing some stuff,” referencing the lootings and fights breaking out.

Blanks’s mother is the only person in the family to have power, so Blanks has moved in to her apartment, along with most of her family.

She contemplated driving over to Monkey Junction, a mostly white neighborhood, where electricity is back in most parts and restaurants are serving people until the 8pm curfew, to get a hot meal with the $90 she has to her name.

Where Blanks is standing now, Wilmington’s Northside, is a historically and predominantly African American neighborhood. On any given street, sitting on porches, most people are out during the day, for a brief respite from the suffocating heat.

A couple of miles down the road, past the perfectly painted and mowed lawns just blocks away from Blanks’s childhood home, Peggy White, who lives near Monkey Junction, was sitting at a counter at an air-conditioned Whole Foods that opened up again on Monday with hot macaroni and cheese and chicken teriyaki. White hoped to charge her phone because the one thing Blanks’s family had that she didn’t was power.

The cynic realist in me has a feeling that the Dems are going to horsefeathers this up somehow. They need to cut out this FBI investigation talk and let her testify. The optics will be bad enough.

As much as I hope she testifies, it's ultimately up to her and what she's done so far takes far more courage than I'll ever show. She's the victim in this ordeal, her not wanting to testify doesn't change that as much as the GOP and media want to narrate it that way. The ultimate black eye will be having almost 1/4th of the SC being sexual deviants/assaulters/rapists.
