I don't think they give a horsefeathers about Trump, my belief is the GOP is looking to set a precedent for use when they get a real President (Republican). Of course, Trump is foolish, gullible and arrogant enough to think all this is being done on his behalf.

They are going to punt any kind of decision until after the election. The less precedent and release of information before the election, the better (for Republicans).

Since late-March: “we have to sacrifice lives to get the economy going again. Reopen now!”

Regarding an event 6 months from now that is arguably the most important thing in our democratic society: “I’m not sure we can commit one way or the other”

Honestly, it doesn't scare me at all. It's just more sad reinforcement none of these dimwits have any horsefeathering clue of what they're doing or how anything works. How would they possibly "stop" the election short of somehow having the horsefeathering army taking over all of the states to stop the proceedings? Their take on halting a presidential election is about as grounded in reality as their idea of somehow willing a pandemic into not being a problem.

More awesomeness from the Ricketts: https://www.washingtonpost.com/business ... atpacking/

For weeks, people in rural communities in Nebraska charted the rise of coronavirus cases at the state’s several meatpacking plants. First, there were handfuls, and then, many more.

As of the first week of May, public health officials reported 96 at the Tyson plant in Madison; 237 at the JBS plant in Grand Island; and 123 arising from the Smithfield plant in Crete.

There were other cases around the state, too, and the counts were climbing. At least three were reportedly dead.

Then the numbers stopped.

In a change initiated last week, Gov. Pete Ricketts (R) announced at a news conference that state health officials would no longer share figures about how many workers have been infected at each plant. The big companies weren’t sharing numbers either, creating a silence that leaves workers, their families and the rest of the public blind to the severity of the crisis at each plant.

Awesome

Dumb horsefeathers forgot about past precedent applying to any President including Obama. Sorry for the duplicate post, should have quoted the post above.

Curious how much of this is Trump's recent actions and how much of it is older moderates being more comfortable with Biden than a generic Dem.

I've been repeatedly told on here that moderates don't exist.

I think they are just hiding so they don't have to justify their Biden support in the primaries.

The older I get, the more I think "moderates" are simply those who still haven't internalized the fact that monetary & fiscal policy IS social policy. So yeah, plenty of moderates around.

Moderates exist.

It's "undecided voters" that don't exist. Or, more generally, "people who sometimes vote R and sometimes vote D, depending on blah blah blah". I don't know a single person who does that, and neither does anyone else

It's rare, but my parents are in that group. Both my mom and dad have voted for Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, and then Trump. My parents hated HRC is the main reason why they voted for Trump. That and Trump is a "businessman/can't be as corrupt as all these career politicians/actually cares about the people/America" is what they told me why they voted for him which just made me LOL at that time. My mom is going to vote for Biden this fall. She has very slowly realized just how bad Trump is as president that she can't vote for him again. Dad, on the other hand, is full blown on the Trump/MAGA train.

I have a few friends that are around my age (35) who voted Obama and then Trump. Like my parents, they were not a fan of HRC. I expect most (if not all) of them to vote for Biden from what I've heard the last few times I talked to them.

Yea to claim that swing voters literally don't exist is bonkers. Derwood I'm sure you know plenty.

Obviously their existence is a far cry from "appeal to the swing voter.". Thats like point A to point D where you have to determine their size/meaningfulness and their ability to actually be swayed by reason rather than just plain old randomness and people having non-philosophical reasons for how they vote.

But yea, they obviously exist. It's not like ghosts, yeti, or Lindsay Graham's dignity.
