He'd sabotage economy so he could short the market.

Is there a brokerage firm that would allow that much leverage to a man 420 million in debt? Do Russian mobsters have a brokerage firm?

Have you met DeutscheBank? Or Carl Icahn?

I wouldn't look deep into it. While it could be a broke man with immense power cashing in or an egomaniac angry that his miraculous recovery was seen as stupid and reckless. Most likely it's a poor negotiation tactic.

I don’t believe we got any live appearances or taped footage of the president today.

This is....very very strange. McConnell using Trump to blow up the talks instead of himself doesn't make sense. I could definitely see Mitch being willing to cut bait on Trump, and this will hurt Trump politically, butthis also hurts the chances of Republicans holding on to the Senate, right? Was Mitch just hoping to use an unreasonable Trump as a bargaining chip against Pelosi, and Trump took it 12 steps further than hoped?

Too damn many of these [expletive] from the past few years are going to wind up fat & rich. I just hope at least some of them suffer for what they've done.

Was thinking the same thing. It’s like when I eat some edibles and my mom calls me and I don’t answer and then I text her back 15 minutes later.

One thing I thought of while watching John Oliver’s piece on the Supreme Court from a week ago, but would the Dems be able to change the rules for confirming justices (both Supreme Court and lower) so that they have to pass the house also? Obviously it wouldn’t have mattered from 2016-18 because the Republicans held all three branches, but if we think the Rs are more likely to hold the Senate going forward, that could be a check if the Dems manage to hold onto the House even if the Rs hold the Senate and WH like they do now.

When you have one talking point. Who knew a reasonable plan based off of personal tragedy couldn't be mentioned?

Indeed, he forgot he already did it months ago. Then 40 minutes later he sent out anoter tweet saying he did it months ago but nobody noticed.

That would require a constitutional amendment, so good luck with that.

While the number of justices on the court is merely tradition, and so packing the courts could theoretically be done, the actual confirmation process is constitutional. It’s somewhere in Article II.

I felt like when Trump tweeted he was stopping the negotiations yesterday that it was to hold the relief bill hostage for votes. He said something along the lines of he would pass the bill after his re-election. We know that if a relief bill doesn't pass before the election, it won't happen until January 20th. There is no way Trump will pass a relief bill as a lame duck president.

I'd like to see more steam on removing Cavanaugh from the bench. Maybe the Dems are keeping it quiet for now so that they don't turn away voters using Republican tactics to balance the scales.

Saw someone post this 1989 video of Carl Sagan, and I just thought I'd drop it here.
