A few weeks ago a really cute girl moved into the apartment next to mine. I hadn’t talked to her yet, I’d seen her through the peephole. Don’t judge me, I have a social phobia.
This morning I was celebrating, listening to Lovely Day by Bill Withers and she was playing America the Beautiful. I figure she must be celebrating too and I’ve had a bottle of champagne chilling since Tuesday, I figure what the hell, knocked on her door and asked her to have a drink with me. Her name is Erin, she sings and plays guitar and I’m in love.
Later I walk to Binny’s on Clark street, grab another bottle of champagne and drink it on the street wandering around the north side. People in cars are honking horns and waving flags. I live by the Diversey brown line stop but I walk on Halsted, and Broadway, then on Clark towards Wrigley. Twice I pass CPD and I try to hide my open bottle thinking I may have to run. They tell me they don’t care and I continue to drink.
On Racine some bros are on their patio playing Fortunate Son by CCR, they see my ByeDon 2020 shirt and call me over. We do a shot and sing together.
Today ducking rules.
