The one pro-stand for the anthem argument I've heard that makes sense is that because the NFL now gets paid by the military for these patriotic displays, honoring the flag can be considered part of the job/game day responsibilities of the players, akin to speaking with the media, dress code restrictions, etc. Of course, no one from the military/government would want to make it clear that they pay for this, and it's not done out of pure patriotism.

If this rule somehow gets passed, it could be every interesting. I already think there's a non-zero chance some players call Jerry Jones' bluff.

I'm not a legal scholar, but I don't see how this flies. you simply cannot force someone to pledge their allegiance

I'm also not a legal scholar...but I think it'll be ok...although gross. It's not religious, and all they're "making" them do is stand during it...not recite a pledge, or sing the song or anything.

These tweets drive me nuts because Trump knows what he is saying is a lie and easily proven but it doesnt matter because he has the loudest voice in the room so enough of the public hears his message for it to be effective in spreading the lie.

I get that Twitter could clearly have handled Trump better overall, but it's low-key hilarious that the President of the United States hasn't gotten upgraded to 280 characters yet.

280 characters? That's way too much effort for him

The shocker is that Trump hasn't made that a thing.

Guess this could've gone in the music thread....nahh, it doesn't get anymore political than this. Whether you're a fan or not, this deserves =D> IMO.
