I understand it's a pretty low bar to clear, but I don't understand the point of mocking one of the few Pubs who aren't supporting the child molester for not giving enough money to the Dem.

For me its not about how much money, its how honest the gesture really is. I just don’t believe any republican when they appear to take a stand against some horsefeathers with in their ranks because of how group-thinky they are

People, even some Republicans aren't 2-dimensional figures. Flake could have done a lot of nasty, regressive things, that doesn't mean he should be called out for things he does that aren't. That's how you lose a message and sound like the Republican Congress under Obama.

It’s at best an empty gesture. He could have took a stand with Corker and voted against the horrible tax bill.

I’m not going to get worked up by people taking a stand against people like Roy Moore. It’s not a courageous thing to do if you’re normal.

Yeah seriously the fact that “look everyone I’m against pedophilia” is a point you have to go out of your way to make to differentiate yourself from the rest of your party is very disturbing.

The pedophile stuff is horrible, but Moore is unfit for office because he’s been perviously removed for failure to uphold the Constitution.

Can anyone imagine we’d ever elect a person to public office who TWICE was removed from office for failure ure to uphold the Constitution?

If he’s elected it will be a dark point in our history.

It took me a second to realize that I was looking at the unemployment rate, and that it had been dropping at roughly the same right from when Obama took over through today.

Just because on occasion a Republican decides "nope, this is one step too evil for me" doesn't mean they get to be praised for it. Just like McCain wasn't a hero for voting to NOT take away millions of people's healthcare, Flake is no hero for donating the cost of a year of Amazon Prime to a child molester's opponent.

Sure - but when they do something that's actually decent is a weird time to point out how generally awful they are.

Because it's all but meaningless given all of the other terrible stuff he's supported.

You and SSR are gonna flounce hand in hand into that voting booth, aren't you?

Maybe there's a specific post you're referring to here, but I think the point most people are getting at is that the gesture is pretty meaningless. It's akin to "thoughts and prayers" after a mass shooting. It's not necessarily "bad" in a vacuum, but also...there's so much more that could be done if a congressperson was trying to genuinely trying to take a stand.
