I have a Smoky The Bear shirt with “Resist” written on his warden’s hat. I love wearing it to the store. My son has a, “Science doesn’t care what you believe” shirt he wears.

I know we're beyond the point where analysis of Trump & his army of idiots is repetitive, but I'm just struck by how closely this thread tracks w/ a conversation I had at a house party recently.

Nichols is one of those #nevertrump'ers who sometimes annoys me because of his attempts at excusing conservatives for the (inevitable) current state of his party & movement. Still, I like reading him because he's smart.

Tom Nichols wrote:They know he's, um, emotionally disordered, to use @Peter_Wehner's term, but they don't care: this is their one chance to grab the car keys and throw a kegger before Mom and Dad get back home.

Pretty sure my entire family voted for Trump and they definitely eat up whatever [expletive] he throws out there. That string of tweets rings true to me based on my personal experience.

This perspective presupposes that Trump is not doing Putin's bidding. He has his orders and he's following them. Of that I am sure. If anyone who is paying attention didn't believe that before this weekend, they surely must now. Also, I just read where one of the leaders of Brexit took millions from the Russians.

I genuinely don't see how you could get that as your takeaway from that thread.

If only utterly powerless people like Sen. Flake were in a position to do something about some of this stuff. Dude gives some pretty speeches though.

More twitter rants on trade this morning. He continues to focus only on goods/products and not on services, where the US has a massive trade surplus

So, it's pretty likely that your 2020 Democratic candidate is on this list...

Barack Obama has met with several Democrats considering running for president in 2020, a Democrat close to the former president tells CNN, offering them advice on running in the Trump era and discussing how to position the party going forward.

Obama has met with Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders; Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren; former Vice President Joe Biden; former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick; New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker; former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu; Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti; South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Peter Buttigieg; former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander; and former Attorney General Eric Holder.

Democrats are anticipating a large 2020 field, and there are still several notable potential candidates -- California Sen. Kamala Harris, New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand and former Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe among them -- who have not yet discussed campaign plans with Obama.

As much as I respect Obama's right to do whatever the hell he wants, part of me will be disappointed if he takes a passive role in the 2018 and more importantly 2020 elections.

The worse part is people falling for his Maverick gimmick he's trying to use to fill the void falsely occupied by McCain. (Obviously McCain deserves credit for destroying Trumpcare).

It's easier to say you're an individual than actually do something to prove it. He talks a good game but always falls in line.

Especially when they don't inform any of these people that they are being purged, so they don't know they're ineligible until they show up at the polls
