All signs now REALLY point to Graham ending up as AG sooner rather than later.

Honestly Mueller has been at this for a while so I am confident that he has plenty of evidence to prove pretty much whatever he wants. (To say nothing of Trump continuing to do lots of corruption). Trump fans would never admit it but I don't count on them for anything.

Trump can set up to rearrange the deck chairs any way he wants. Dems take back the House and I'm guessing Trump has a lot less fun in the back half of his term (to say nothing of the Devin Nunes' of the world).

The only issue with this logic is she didn’t need to resign to be appointed to Grahm’s seat. She could have resigned as soon as she’s nominated for the appointment.

I think she knows what’s coming down the pipe and doesn’t want to be the last rat leaving the ship.

She likely wanted to dump the relatively minor graft baggage that's been hanging around in this role since she pretty clearly has aspirations beyond just riding this out as Trump's mouthpiece to the UN. Like Flake and Ryan and so many others, she's trying to have it both ways.

Basically it's win-win for her: Trump sticks around, then she's likely to step right in if Graham ends up AG since she left on good terms and smooched Trump's bulbous ass. If Trump bails or goes down, she thinks she can point to how she got out early and can spin her time at the UN as trying to keep him in check.

I read a twitter rumor that she was the anonymous person who wrote the op-ed and then wrote another criticizing the anonymous person. I doubt it is true, but it's kind of funny.

https://www.citizensforethics.org/press-release/crew-requests-investigation-of-nikki-haley-for-accepting-private-plane-flights/

Ambassador Haley’s 2017 public financial disclosure report listed her acceptance of gifts of seven free flights on private aircraft from three South Carolina businessmen for herself and her husband. Those flights were between New York, Washington, DC, and three cities in her home state of South Carolina, and appear to have been worth tens of thousands of dollars to her. In her financial disclosure report, Ambassador Haley asserted that each gifted flight qualified for an exception based on a personal relationship with the giver. The report, however, does not provide enough information to demonstrate that this exception was applicable to the flights. Whether the exception applies depends partly on whether the three businessmen were the only sources of the gifts; if business entities were sources of the gifts, the exception was inapplicable.

senate republicans were super outraged that a public figure (kavanaugh) was allegedly being smeared by accusers, but they seem to have no problem smearing private citizens with garbage conspiracy theories or overlooking it when members of their own tribe (like trump or various right-wing pundits and talk show hosts) do it.

cotton might actually be the worst person in the senate, which is really saying something considering that he's up against people like ted cruz, rand paul, chuck grassley, orrin hatch, mitch mcconnell, john cornyn and various other toilet people.

"Federalism"/"states' rights" and "due process," among other constitutional norms & principles, are nothing but transactional or situational concepts to supposedly originalist GOP'ers. Bunch of [expletive] constitutional wanking.

mitt is 100% going to be a perfect flake replacement. long on furrowed brows and impassioned speeches, short on actually doing anything to oppose the trump agenda or to perform any sort of oversight of the executive.

I'm sure a touch of it is Trump's trade war non-sense, but the bulk of it is surely interest rates unwinding. Fairly predictable and not really a politics thing.
