I get the point you're making, as both Mulan and Aladdin came before The Princess and the Frog, but Aladdin represented middle eastern people about as well as minstrel shows represented black people. Take a look at the cast of that film. It's animated brownface.

I have a guilty soft spot for that film (mostly because of Robin Williams), but it's really pretty racist. As a kid I even stupidly thought that Aladdin kinda looked like me. I didn't get it at the time, but I understand now why my dad hated the movie so much.

I'd say that this shutdown might finally be the thing that turns his base against him, but it's really only the select few that are directly affected. The rest are fine with sacrificing some of their own in the name of the cause. Because that's how radical terrorism works.

Trump's base is mostly made of people who assume that practically every government worker (outside of cops and firefighters) is completely useless at best.

I figure they look at them as some kind of special super jerkoff category all on their own.

I know this sounds like a broken record, but Trump's base will never turn against him. There's always a spin to be had. "If they just give him what he wants, he'll re-open the government!"

2 more years of this BS. It is going to be ugly.

I wear this fact around me like a shroud lately whenever I encounter a MAGA moron spouting off about Dems being responsible for the shutdown. Facts matter not to them, of course.

Hmmm. So, did the Manafort team or the Mueller team mess up the redactions? I can't tell. In any case, the redactions are hardly earth-shattering, unless I'm missing something.

This guy is from the National Review, the alleged home of intelligent conservatism.
